Google's no help with facebook privacy stuff

Google only finds old answers that are no longer useful, since facebook changes so quickly.

Can someone tell me how to:

[ul]
[li]untag myself in someone else’s pic[/li][li]make my page invisible to searches; I only want to be visible to friends whom I reach out to[/li][/ul]

Thanks in advance.

Facebook used to allow users to “hide” their profiles from searches. They removed this feature a few years ago. You can block specific people, but there is no way to hide your profile from general searches.

What a lot of people do now is use special characters in their names (Jøan instead of Joan) or just first name and middle name (Jennifer Louise instead of Jennifer Smith) in order to stay as anonymous as possible in searches.

FYI, googling “untag myself in facebook photo”'s very first link was the one that dofe linked to. What exactly did you try to google?

Yes. I found that too, before I posted. It didn’t work.

My advice would to use a screen name for your facebook page if you want your page not to show up in google searches.

I think it’s better to use just Louise which would eliminate anyone seeing your real first or last name

But it does work, always has. What happened when you tried to do it?

Good idea, but a MS quality answer.
I hadda look up how to change my name on FB page/account; https://www.facebook.com/help/173909489329079

I never had a lot of trust in the facebook privacy settings which is why I decided to use a screen name

If you just want to make it where people can’t add you, the most you can do is restrict it to “friends of friends.” So people online can search and find your page (which you can make blank to the public), but they won’t be able to do anything from there.

Anyone who is a friend of a friend could always find you anyways, since they can just look at your friend’s friends.
