Wherever your name is listed under the pic there should be a (photos/ remove tag) in brackets after your name, just click it.
Not seeing it…
ETA: Ah! Got it. Thanks!
(I hate Facebook. Leave me the fuck out of your stupid games…)
If you hate Facebook why do you have an account?
It’s not Facebook that tagged you, it’s someone you know and whom you are friends with that has a picture of you.
It’s social networking. Not Individually Wrapped Hermit Pages. Really dude, just close your account. Then no one can tag you ever.
The million dollar question, I know.
So, I’ve re-connected with a few high school friends, thanks to Facebook. Perhaps over the years I may re-connect with a few others. I would like that.
In the mean time I have kids, and sometimes friends of my kids ask me to befriend them, etc. They like the stoopid games. I don’t like anything except to have a profile on which I may get reacquainted with old friends: dude.
And it wasn’t pictures of me. I was being tagged in a scrambly, jumbly thing and getting 10 emails a day noting such.
You can also block applications, so you never get notified of anything from the entire thing. Just mouse over the notice on your wall, there will be a “hide” button, click on it and select “hide application”.
So stay out of scrambly, jumbly things.
btw, I love “Individually Wrapped Hermit Pages” – how do I sign up there instead?
Take what Telemark said about the “Hide” button to heart. It is your friend. Spend a couple of Facebook sessions blocking every single game and hugs and “which extinct invertebrate are you?” questionnaire, and Facebook becomes a much nicer place.
I really do wish there was a “hide ALL notifications from applications” button. Perhaps there is and I just haven’t found it yet.
(Incidentally, Leaffan, if you’ll just accept the little blue hamster that my level 4,201 wizard sent you, I’ll be able to plant some deadly nightshade in my little square-foot garden, and then I can use it to assassinate Lady Gaga in my Mafia game.)
Would go see. Especially if they were Japanese.
See, I didn’t even know I could do that. Shows you how much time I spend on there.
Thanks.
Anytime!
You can also hide people. This is gentler than unfriending (I hate that word) them, because they never know you did it. You still see any private messages they send you–they just don’t show up in your feed.
Thank you very much. I have some long lost friends who I’d like to keep in touch with but have extremely different lifestyles in which I have virtually no interest. And they are damn chatty about it.
For those interested, any time they show up on your news feed, just mouse over their name and a hide button (just the text “hide”) will appear to the right. Click on it and be done with the incessant babbling.
Sorry, Individually Wrapped Hermit Pages are not labeled for retail sale!
For all those of you who hate hate hate Facebook because your friends clog up your newsfeeds with junk (I don’t hate FB but I do hate junk) I beg you to try out FB Purity. I don’t work for or with them or even know who they are…I just know that their little script has changed my FB experience forever (for the better) and I love them dearly!
I went to their home page and they show profile pictures of people who supposedly like their product - among the random people they show is one of my Facebook friends. I am very suspicious. Did FB Purity know who I am and access my Facebook friends list when I visited their site? It’s not the kind of behaviour that makes me trust them enough to voluntarily run their script on my computer.
Facebook is the sort of site where I just want to show up and say “ok, I’m here, nobody can say I don’t have a FB page”, but it’s not really somewhere I want to spend time.
http://hermitbook.com isn’t registered. Business opportunity?
Geocities before it was pulled did what you say you want “hermitbook” to do. Lycos/Tripod still have a similar service, as does angelfire. Some ISPs probably let you set up a “homepage” as well.
Something I wondered today - if I change my mind, how do I unhide someone?
Go to your list of hidden people/applications and unhide them.
Ok, I’ve been looking for 15 minutes and give up – where do I find my list of hidden people/applications?
Account dropdown menu to Privacy Settings, and from that page to “Applications and Websites”.
