So I use Babel Fish and it seems that goal in Spanish is meta. Score seems to be cuenta.
I don’t speak Spanish, but maybe “meta” is “goal” in the meaning of a general aim you want to achieve, not that rectangular thing you have to kick the ball through?
Just a WAG. In very early German football (around 1900), there were many many English terms used in football terminology, until they replaced “goal” with the German “Tor” (literally “gate”). And even the French call that sport “football”, so English terms don’t seem to be rare in other languages’ usage.
