Got halfway through “Hateful Eight” - just tell me the rest

A Lot of Suck.

I applaud your good sense in turning that shit off when you did.

I drove hours through the snow to see it in a theater. Utterly disgusted.

Of all the things that bothered me, the casting of Jennifer Jason Leigh bothered me the most. The other actors resembled their roles, but not her, and her character suffers the most.

Not sure I can agree - it seemed like a very Jennifer Jason Leigh sort of role to me. She’s pretty fearless and seems to gravitate towards playing assorted losers and fucked up characters who frequently end up being subjected to misery. If she has played anything approaching a “light” role since Fast Times at Ridgemont High, I can’t think of it.

ETA: Oh, wait - Hudsucker Proxy I guess. Still, she seems to really like the dark ones.

The Spectacular Now?

The Hateful Eight is in the category of movies I really enjoyed when I saw it, but have no meaningful desire to watch again.

It helps that I saw it on its 70mm Roadshow tour, complete with program, comfy seat, and the satisfying noise of hearing the 70mm film flutter out of the projector at the end.

… just to see a movie that wastes a lot of time showing snow covered scenery.

…I liked it.

I thought it was interesting that although Wally Goggs character was an unabashed racist…he still took his job as a lawman seriously and would partner with Jackson’s character against the outlaws.

I do think it’s insanely long though.

Except for Kurt Russell’s fate.
