Whatever. Sticks and stones. I just can’t pass up what I see as a quintessential example of the privilege one receives by being a white male in this country. It’s crazy. It’s enough to make me understand why Asians get those plastic surgeries. Though we take different paths to get there, we both agree that the Republican agenda in Wisconsin should go forward without interference from the Democratic party. I have no pity for the voters of Wisconsin and, to an lesser extent, Ohio who knowingly voted in a high school graduate (no college degree) and a Fox News Broadcaster as their Governor, respectively. This shit wasn’t secret.
About 40 of us retired the year I did (we all fell into the “25 and out” plan) and about half were black (and a 3rd of the African Americans that retired were women). And everyone had the same benefits while we were working and everyone got the same benefits upon retirement. The only variable was the amount of pension payment which rested on the average of the employees 3 highest years. Race had nothing to do with it.
What does this anecdote have to do with what I originally posted?
Scott Walker encapsulates what white privilege is. This man has no college degree and was elected to be Governor of Wisconsin. Ohio elected a Fox News Broadcaster as their Governor. It must be nice being white.
Not ALL of us voted for Walker, Honesty. Nearly 47-percent of the people who voted in the fall election didn’t. I don’t know why we should all be fucked over because Walker’s a lying, manipulative weasel. It’s probably pretty easy for you to say that, since you don’t live here and won’t have to live with the immediate consequences of Walker’s idiocy, but even the dumbasses who voted for him shouldn’t have their rights stripped away because they did. Please don’t say that shit.
Yeah? Nearly 46% of us didn’t vote for Obama but have to suffer with his policies. When people win elections they tend to try to push their agenda. That’s how it works.
It only works if nobody goes crazy. Trying to sabotage your political opposition by legislation, that isn’t “pushing your agenda”. I put the question to you: of the people who voted for this guy, how many of them voted because he promised to cut the nuts off labor unions? Gimmee your best guess.
Please explain to me which of Obama’s policies are targeted toward stripping away the rights of people who opposed him and his political party in elections, and then maybe the situations will be comparable. But until then? This is Walker and the Republicans who support him being vengeful and denying they have ulterior motives.
pkbites knows it’s a big fat zero, because Walker didn’t so much as breathe the suggestion of disempowering labor unions during his campaign or at any point before this bill was introduced just over a week ago.
Is there any question in your mind that you would never have made the wages you were receiving (given your education level) without the union contract?
As we speak, the lefty blogs are abuzz with stories about Gov Walken and effort to sell state assets in no-bid contracts to…guess who? No, really, go ahead and guess. Rhymes with “cock mothers.”
Now, these cites are decidedly lefty, so I will not link, unless requested, as that is too “citey” for these sorts of burgeoning rumors. But I got two bits says they prove to be true.
It doesn’t matter. They forced the poor bastard to take their dirty union money! Shoved it right into his wallet. Made him spend it. Haven’t you even taken a second to think about how that made him feel? That’s why he hates unions so much.
The union was weak, ineffectual, and greedy. I paid just shy of $1000 a year for next to nothing. The administration bullied us at will, the union did little to stop it, and was overall not instrumental in the pay scale. All full time employees for this municipality received the same benefits and similar pay scales whether they were unionized or not. The difference between us and the other unions was that we had no right to strike. If I had a choice I would not have been a member of any union and would have taken my chances.
Either way, your talking about people feeding at the public trough on tax payers backs (this included me). Why do you think public employees should be making the same wages and benefits as those working for private companies?
Did you know that the Dems are the ones who put the state employee rights in danger?
Lawmakers can’t invalidate existing contracts such as those between labor unions and government employers. Changes to labor law wouldn’t affect unions with contracts.
State unions don’t have contracts because Democratic lawmakers narrowly failed to approve them in December.
And yet you made $26/hour. You do realize that the rest of the worker bees make way less than that? Don’t you? And your wage had nothing to do with the union? But you would have been willing to work for minimum wage your entire career, with no health care insurance, and no pension, if not for the evil unions, right? That $1000 in union dues would have made up all the difference.
Why do you think that those working for public employees should make less than those working for private companies. This makes no sense at all. Are you saying that you were a parasite and therefor all public employees are parasites. If so it sucks to be you.
