I am quite assuredly not hanging on his every word. I just like it when someone attempts to discount what I say with a label. It makes it all the more fun when they eat their words later.
Try looking up the word compel. Further, do not put words in my mouth, I never said he could go to IL and bring them to WI. However, he could ask the Governor of IL to step in. That is not likely to go the way he would wish though. As for the senators, they are shirking their duty and breaking their sworn duty to represent their constituents.
So, why do you support the senators breaking the law?
My consistent position has been that obstructionism is just fine depending on what you are obstructing. I don’t have a problem with purely obstructing as a tactic. Many of our resident liberal douches here think obstructionism as a tactic is terrible when Republicans do it but OK when Democrats do it.
Is there anyone we can thank for sending you along our way? Is it the same generous soul we can thank for sending us a whole month of righty noobs? We are intensely grateful, and wish to shower said person with cash and eager practitioners of whatsoever sexual preference they might prefer. Boy oh boy we’d sure like to know who to thank.
In what way? They are subject to recall or primary challenges when the next election comes round. That’s if their constituents object to what they’re doing.
What law are they breaking? What is the charge the police officer would use when arresting them? How much time are they facing? I actually don’t know, I’d like the information if you have it.
The only law I can think of would be under conspiracy for the IL Governor.
I am not going to look through WI statutes, but it is common fact that their is law on the books that allows the Governor to “compel” their return to the legislature. Obviously this is WI law and beings that they are out of state, he has no means to return them directly. But law is an interesting thing and in most states, it is illegal to conspire to commit an illegal act. While I could spend some time on a few legal databases and look up the exact laws, I am really not feeling the desire to waste that level of time. Further, this is nothing more than a political ploy that makes a mockery of the legislature in that state.
Would you go into more detail on your “thinking” here, please? What law do you imagine would apply to Gov. Quinn?
There is not. The Wisconsin Constitution states, “Each house … may compel the attendance of absent members in such manner and under such penalties as each house may provide.” The governor has nothing to do with it.
I am not happy with the senators leaving the state. But the problem of union busting is too big to allow. The Gov, got all the financial concessions he asked for. But he is not after money. He wants to permanently cripple the unions by taking away their ability to act as a union. If they can not collect dues and can not negotiate collectively, they do not exist. That is what Walked demands. They have to destroy themselves before he will even talk to them. The Dems can not allow that to happen. The only way to stop it is leave.
They should get busy recalling the Repubs and then see how solid a front they will show.
Oh, so in other words you don’t know that they are breaking the law. So you’re a liar. Because liars state things as fact when they don’t know if they are facts.
Okay liar. I just wanted to be sure. The *law *you’re looking for by the way is the Wisconsin constitution.
You might not be Assi, but you’re definitely an assihole.
No, elucidator is crying because the recent influx of opposing views is not literate enough to set him up for a good pun, or to understand one. It’s only then that he resorts to sarcasm, bless his heart.
I never said they weren’t doing their jobs or that they were thwarting democracy. They were also obstructing everything, not just one thing, and sorry, but the thing that’s being obstructed actually does mean something. Not all obstruction is equal.
The Governor of Illinois has no legal authority or jurisdiction to do anything. The Wisconsin Senators are not breaking any laws in Illinois, nor have they broken any laws in Wisconsin.
