Why?
Welcome new poster superslug. Hope you enjoy your time here. And your opinion on Obama = Messiah?
Welcome Old Timer (but only one post in 6 years) Gordon 69. I see your views on Obama = Messiah are quite plain.
“Messiah” is a title first given to Barry by Louis Farrakhan that was picked up and embraced by a presently dis-enchanted multitude.
You mean the Republicans? Or just you and the other recently joined chuckleheads?
Just so you know, you’re better than a floor show in Vegas!
No I’m Australian and all your stupid POTUS are laughable, at least Clinton got a blow job off his staff.
Yeah, I’m not breathing in near as much glitter.
I don’t know about republicans but how could those of us that knew better be dis-enchanted? I’m disappointed but definitely not dis-enchanted.
What I do know is that public unions are not in the public interest.
Everybody should have a hobby.
I also don’t remember me saying that you said it, pay attention.
What I see is an overall effort into dividing many and causing them to ignore the well to do that caused the current economic unpleasantness and that now are sitting pretty and not creating many jobs or paying enough taxes.
That just shows that besides being an asshole, Walker is a coward.
Doesn’t make a lot of sense. If the unions already have such terrible power, how come the Governor is threatening to cut their collective nuts off? As you surely must know by now, the public sector unions have all accepted the financial burdens imposed. But their offer is refused and the demand remains.
And all this time they have the power to shut down the government? How come they didn’t? How come they didn’t at least threaten to? Or did they, and nobody told us?
If the public sector unions had the awesome power you ascribe to them, we wouldn’t be seeing what we are seeing.
Absolutely right! It’s always heartening to see a group of smart, enabled taxpayers calling out an elected official for doing really stupid things–like irresponsibly cutting taxes to cause a budget deficit, and then trying to strip the right of workers to freely associate and peaceably assemble.
They can “peaceably assemble”.
“irresposibly cutting taxes” Thats a good one.
I’m not actually sure what you said there, but if you’re referring to the investment bankers, I totally agree. Those miserable bastards are still getting billions in bonuses when all they really deserve are long prison sentences.
I have a fairly high net worth, but I still think inheritances should be taxed to hell. I’m sick and tired of seeing all these filthy rich idiots like sweet Paris float through a life of luxury and debauchery contributing absolutely nothing to society.
Finally, unions in my organization are a no no, because that would get me fired. But I see a lot of local companies that truly deserve them, but I’ll never buy into public service unions, their combined voting power gives them enough power - They don’t need any more.
Do states have the equivalent of the Hatch Act? For that matter, what if Walker finds himself ignored by the career civil servants?
Hey, Ring, do you know how unions actually function and what they do within a school district? If you do, then I won’t bother to tell you, but if you don’t then you might be interested in the information.
One of the biggest problems with the changes that Walker is trying to make in my state is that every school district’s administrator/superintendent and school board negotiates with their district’s teacher and professional staff unions individually, and their contracts aren’t decided at a state level. The arguments he’s using to disband teacher and professional staff unions don’t work, because the deal that every school district has on pension and benefits is different, and in very many cases don’t match the picture that Walker is trying to paint.
I agree if the same holds true for corporations and other organizations. Publically finance elections and let the voters decide. Otherwise, you’re shorting labor on the double and triple representation that corporate interests get.
Check out this video satire of Scott Walker!
I heard of some other surprise elements of the ‘budget bill’:
new state flower: the Tool
new state bird: the Prole
new WI state motto: “The Screw-Me State”
Sorry, Wisconsin, I hate to do it, but someone has to point out how dumb you look. Here’s what you need to do: 1. Take the goddamn cheese of your head (relax, you can have it back later) 2. Get up and away from the television. 3. Read something. The Economist is slanted, you could read the New Yorker slanted the other way, or National Geographic, heck there are hundreds of things. 4. Talk to people about what you read.
#4 is pretty important, especially for you Wisconsinites who think you’re off the hook because you didn’t vote Walker. You aren’t. You should have been out spreading the word. I personally canvassed voters in my state with an organization- do you remember me pointing this out when you were crying about the results, Shot From Guns- and guess what? We’re getting cuts too, but we are not witnessing the hack jackassery we’re witnessing in WI.
Sorry to point it out. WI looks pretty dumb right now. This is bound to happen eventually to people who get all their information from television and religion. Though to some degree you are victims: the rich encourage this in you at every turn.
Sounds like someone understands that elections have consequences, even when someone other than the liberal wins.
