GQ board description is out of date

When you go to the top SDMB page, the description you see for General Questions is:

Since there is no longer a real possibility of Cecil answering questions originating in the GQ forum :(, I would suggest that the parenthetic comment there be removed.

Also, maybe update the number to Teeming Hundreds?

Hundreds is less alliterative.

There’s also the matter of posters starting threads asking questions that don’t have a factual answer.

They’re seeking opinions and/or advice.

Well yeah but that’s already addressed accurately in the board description (and the Rules/FAQs go into sufficient detail if people bother to read them). As long as that’s being reported/enforced properly there’s not much else you can do.

As noted in a recent thread, you can ask Cecil a question. Just don’t expect a response.

And the sames goes for questions for the teeming.

While there is currently no new content available on the site, the door is not entirely closed to possible return at some currently unknown time in future. As long as that possibility remains I think things should stay as they are.

Yes, glory days, well, they pass you by, as some philosopher said. But I’m still here and you’re still here and we still have co-conspirators here. Cecil has friends. We can either sit down in the dirt and wail and bitch about how things aren’t or make the best of what is and keep finding meaning and purpose in what we have. I invite all of you to join me in this effort. Bring your friends. Make new friends and drag them over too.

Optimist.

Huddled Hundreds, then?

Despairing Dozens.

I can call Cecil from the vasty deep!

Why, so can I, or so can any man; But will he come when you do call?

CecilCecilCecil!

::: still waiting :::

What I tell you three times is true.

Tuba, you forgot to look in a mirror and spin around while saying it.

Are you Beany?

It keeps the option open for a reboot of the franchise at some point in the future, with someone younger playing the role of Cecil Adams.

Have you ever read one of my posts? Fat chance of me being able to do that!

That’s the problem. It’s not being enforced. Sometimes, the first post, or even the thread title, basically says “I need advice about X”.

So a thread is possibly in the wrong forum. If no one reports it or the mods feel it belongs there, what harm is it doing you?

It’s a message board. It doesn’t harm me. I just think it’s silly and slightly annoying when posters with join dates from 10, 15, almost 20 years ago post in the wrong forum.

Of course he does. 'Nuff said!

Last time I talked to him, he told me that we was working on getting the Fyre festival back off the ground and turning it into a reality.
