GQ Magazine Pisses Off Michael Jackson

It seems Michael Jackson is none-too-pleased with a photo spread parody of him, and an accompanying article in GQ Magazine. Here is the on-line link to the article Michael is upset about (in a shorter version - you have to buy the magazine to get the entire version.)

Interesting read. I might have to go pick up a copy of the magazine to get the full story, and see that photo spread!

I jsut gotta say, I love the line:

I think Underpants and Cocaine for Mr. Sleepover would be a great band name.

Hmph. It seems to me that Michael Jackson is pretty much a parody of himself nowadays.

The same could be said of Tom Cruise.

Hm. Long as he stays over there I don’t give a shit about him. Or his “music”. Never will.

Marginally talented popstrel who just happened to come along as MTV exploded. We should care why exactly?

Does anyone have a link with all the photos that are upsetting him?

Maybe because he used to be a kid who sang touching songs before he became a singer who touched kids.

If I won the lottery, I think I would quit my job and devote myself full-time to pissing off Michael Jackson.

I, uhm… this one kind of leaves me befuddled. Not the part about “why should we care” - you shouldn’t, really, not if you don’t.

But to dismiss MJ as “marginally talented” and then to erroneously claim that a person with 9 #1 songs prior to the release of Thriller “happened to come along as MTV exploded” is just wrong.

I can’t believe Jackson is paying attention to the press anymore. Why did this piss him off, and not any of 14 billion previous other things making fun of him and calling him a child molestor?

Probably he figured fleeing to Bahrain might make people finally leave him alone.

Touching songs? Bubblegum pop perhaps but that’s it. Touching to a 12 year old girl who thinks they are deep.

Having a number 1 hit does not in and off itself make someone talented. Thriller, coupled with the excellent videos, came just as MTV was developing and when videos were becoming essential in the marketing of the product. The fact is, his songs weren’t very memorable as they were just fluffy pop hits.

I disagree. I think that Jackson’s earlier work, up to and including Thriller, is pretty good. One of my big regrets about all this (you know, besides regret for all the people who have been hurt) is that I’ll never again be able to enjoy listening to his music, because for me, it’s tainted by his dangerous craziness.

Well we can agree to disagree. I thought it was pure bubblegum and not even particularly good bubblegum.

How he milked as long as he did is beyond me.

Lochdale. C’mon man. You’re embarrassing yourself.

Michael is a deeply disturbed and talented individual.

I just disagree. He’s a clever marketer but seriously, his stuff is pure bubblegum. Beat It couldn’t possibly be campier. Everything after Thriller is ludracriously over the top. Sorry, but I don’t rate him as anything other than a shrewd businessman who managed to keep it going way longer than he should have been allowed to.

Eddie Murphy, from Raw: “If I heard Mike Tyson was mad at me, I’d be worried. If I heard Michel Jackson was mad at me, I’d be like… so?”
