Wacko Jacko's New Album BOMBS!

So far, it’s sold a mere 8,000 copies.

[Nelson]Ha, HA! [/Nelson]

I wonder if it’s racism this time?

I think it’s just good judgement.

He has a new album?

First I’ve heard about it.

No, it’s a two-disc “Greatest Hits” set, and a poorly-conceived one at that.

Even for people who like to listen to Michael Jackson – how many people are there that would want to listen to “Rockin’ Robin” (Tweet – tweetily- tweet) and “Bad” in the same go, who don’t already own everything he’s ever published (and possibly maintain a creepy shrine and walk around town in one of those red leather pantsuits?)

Not many, obviously.

A greatest-hits package from an artist who already has plenty of greatest-hits packages on the market fails to sell? Oh dear!

Y’know, if he’s take off that bleedin’ makeup, sell the ranch, pick up a guitar, and start playing some hard urban blues/folk/punk, put out a totally uncharacteristically deep album with a stripped-down sensibility and meaningful lyrics, I’d buy it.

Can we stop calling him “King of Pop” now?

mm

Is anyone still doing that?

From the article: " …despite rocketing in at number two across the Atlantic in the UK’s album chart."

:dubious:

I’ve never understood those Brits and their kooky royals.

Self-styled King of Pop.

He’s a manufactured pop star who has somehow managed to stay in the limelight for so many years. Part of me thinks a lot of his “weirdness” is staged just so he can stay in the limelight. Thriller was a good pop albulm but that’s about it.

Lochdale. Well, Bad paces Thriller in a track to track matchup: “Bad,” “Smooth Criminal,” “The Way You Make Me Feel,” “Leave Me Alone,” “Liberian Girl,” “Another Part Of Me,” “Man In The Mirror,” “Dirty Diana.” It’s pretty much everything since THEN that disappoints.

Michael’s creative split with Quincy Jones was the worst thing he could’ve done for his career… well, that and sleeping in bed with preadolescent boys.

Oh, and Jesus Juice.

Oh, and dangling Blanket.

And getting a nose reduction after every album.

And the skin color change thing.

And making his home the worlds biggest piece of kid bait.

And his 2 “marriages”.

And blowing money faster than he could make it.

Can’t we just say “And losing his fucking mind”?

I did not know that. However, that doesn’t make either albulm much better imho. Thriller benefitted from the incredible videos rather than the music itself (as did groups like Dire Straits). I just don’t rate him as an “artist”.

Say what you will, Lochdale, the man does have talent. He’s also crazier than a shithouse rat. The only thing he’s done in the past couple of years is release several “greatest hits” albums.

But of course, the only reason they’re doing so poorly is because Sony is mean, racist, and very, very, very devilish.

:stuck_out_tongue:

Re: The King of Pop label.

Bear in mind, Michael Jackson gave HIMSELF that title. The entertainment media, to their discredit, went along with him and used that name for years afterward- just as they foolishly let Prince tell them to call him “The Artist Formerly Known as Prince/That Stupid Symbol.” Reporters could (and should) have ridiculed those titles and refused to let Jackson and PRince dictate to them… but they knuckled under without a second’s hesitation.

Howard Stern claims that was his point when he game himself the title “King of All Media.” He says he started proclaiming himself “King of All Media” to see if other news media would actually be dumb enough to start calling him that… and to his amusement, they did!

I guess I don’t see it. He’s a good popstrel but someone like Jim Steinman has as much if not more talent than Jackson does. He just benefitted from great marketing, good timing and a gulible public…like most pop-stars really!

Yeah, but nowadays they usually refer to him as “the self-proclaimed King of Pop”.

And just because Jackson had talent, doesn’t mean he still does-he’s wasted it and now he’s just a washed up freak.
