Graduation announcement etiquette

My son will be graduating high school this year. He’s got his graduation announcements from the school now, but we’re unsure of the proper etiquette in determing who to send one to. We’re not particularly close to any of our relatives, but of course he’ll be sending an announcement to his grandparents and father. Is it acceptable for him to send one to his aunts and uncles? We’ve only had extremely limited contact with the majority of them since his father and I seperated, but at one time, they were important people in his life. Is it acceptable to send one to my employer or would that look as if we were looking for a handout? It’s a big occasion in my son’s life and I want people to know and realize what an accomplishment this is for him. Thanks for your thoughts!

Why doesn’t he ask his father about the aunts and uncles on that side?

Not to your employer unless he has worked there or your employer was personally close to your son.

An announcement does not require a gift; it is simply an announcement. Feel free to send them to whoever you think might be pleased to hear the news.
