I love Graham Norton, he is of course of the show " So Graham Norton." It;s a british show but I have it because I have been blessed and I mean blessed with the BBC america channel. I dont know how I lived before the BBC channel , I never turn it off . Graham Norton , Changing Rooms , House invaders , Monty Python. I havent watched a different channel in a week.
But this thread isnt about my wonderful Cable discoveries. It’s about Graham Norton he is the funniest person I have seen on TV since … since … You know what ? I havent ever seen someone as funny as him on TV I love it !. If I miss an episode of So Graham Norton I might just cry . Really I might.
Have you heard of Graham Norton? You like his show , dont you ? If not , you must tell me why you dont like such a wonderfully funny person .
It’s more likely that people just haven’t spotted your thread yet, Flowerchild. I’ve seen his name mentioned several times in other TV-related threads. There was also a rumour circulating that he was going to make a version of his show in America, but that was several months ago and I’ve heard nothing since.
BTW, although he is brought to you by BBC America his show isn’t made by the BBC or shown on their channels over here, and to pre-empt the usual misunderstandings he is Irish, not British.
Wow - no need for the apologies (or the slaps) Flowerchild, my remarks were more directed at errors people have made about Graham in other threads, not picking on you.
I suspect that part of his show’s popularity on your side of the water stems from the fact that people are surprised at how frank his guests are in their confessions (and frankly that surprises me too) and how willing they are to poke fun at themselves (less surprising)? His American guests seem amazed at that too.
I think everton hit the nail right on the head. some of the stuff said on that show shocks me quite a bit.But the rest of it is hilarious. The one thing I watch the show to see is Betty, some of the stuff he has involved her in were quite funny. I also love the phone calls , please , can someone tell me where I can find a teddy phone on the internet ? I must have a teddy phone or a doggy phone , but I must have a phone involving a stuffed animal. I MUST!!!
Here’s a link to the website of the show. I believe Betty used to work in the cafeteria of the stage school Graham attended. When she heard he was going to get his own show she asked him about tickets and has been to every show since.
I also heard the dog phone was a one-off made especially for the show and cannot be bought. Maybe some link from the website will be able to point you in the direction of similar stuff?
I dont know about the teddy phones, I seem to recall him saying in one episode that the wharehouse where the TP was made burned down and they were out for the time being ( that was 2 seasons ago) But the way he said it, I assumed they were something anyone can buy.
Another Graham fan here, and let me tell you, it’s virtually impossible to get tickets to the damn show – they’re gone within about an hour of being made available.
One of the traits I find most appealing in his presentational style is that he never makes fun of his guests or makes overtly nasty jibes (unlike his evil twin Julian Clary, for example). Willing to let his guests make fools of themselves, yes, but not willing to do it for them (even when it’s extremely easy – anyone see his talk with Jackie Stallone?).
I saw Betty on another program recently; yes, she was a cafeteria lady at Graham’s stage school. She’s just had her 80th birthday, for which Graham gave her a two-week cruise to New York and back. A nice guy all around.
Oh, and let’s not forget Graham’s earlier performances as Father Noel Furlong in Father Ted, another stellar example of British/Irish humor…
