Grand Theft Auto V

Sony is promising that if you buy a game for PS3, you’ll get a hefty discount if you “upgrade” to a digital copy for the PS4. I don’t know what the discount will be and I don’t know if the upgrade will do some kind of DRM lockout on your physical copy. Details are still vague.

Call of Duty: Ghosts upgrade is $10.

Also GTA V is day one digital on PS3.

Yes, you can already pre-order it on the PSN.

GTA5 has yet to be announced for the PS4. It might never be released for the next-gen system. But if it is, I’m sure it will be included in Sony’s PS3-to-PS4 trade-up program.

I’m sorry, what does that mean? You can download it?

I had no problem with brake and gas. It was that the handling was too realistic. It felt like driving a boat.

Luckily they are going back to the unrealistic but much more enjoyable sticks to the road mode.

I am both a) excited about GTAV and b) pleased to know that I wasn’t the only one who wasn’t entirely happy with GTAIV. The relatively lighthearted approach to crime, murder, prostitution, grand theft of automobiles, etc., was kinda part of the draw to the earlier games. They had a sense of humor. GTAV didn’t lose it entirely, but for the most part, it was SRS BZNS. Here’s hoping they’ve got some mothafuckin’ clockwork ninjas working on the humor in V.

Correct. I know you can get a digital download of the collector’s edition on PSN.

As to next-Gen - it’s pretty clear to me that GTA Online (the multiplayer component) will have to port to next gen at some point, otherwise their whole plan for it wouldn’t make sense. They haven’t said that it will, however.

See, I loved the more realistic handling! They toned it down a bit (particularly for motorcycles) in the expansions (LatD & BoGT), and while I enjoyed those, I preferred it as realistic as possible. Once you got used to it, and learned the characteristics of the various cars, it made for some awesome white-knuckle driving, and sometimes, for some spectacular wrecks!

Driving was always my favorite part of IV, and the online races were like a drug to me. (Driving games have always been my favorite game genre.) I’d rather drive around and do races IN GTA IV than play any actual, dedicated racing games. I used to love Gran Turismo, but when IV came out, the street racing and traffic just made that game seem boring. The only thing that came close was the action of the Midnight Club series - another Rockstar product.

As opposed to this video where the car friction was set to -9. Hilarious video!

I’m definitely looking forward to it and am going to get it for the PC.
But even if the PC version comes out before the end of 2013 I probably won’t get it until spring or possibly even during the 2014 Steam Summer Sale.
GTA IV for PC was pretty bad at launch. I picked it up about 4 or 6 months later and never had a single issue with it. Given that bug-ridden launches are more the norm than the exception I’d usually rather wait and get a more patched and stable game, not to mention the price drops usually half or more if you wait 4-6 months. I always have a backlog so no rush.

I did get Might & Magic 10 early access, but that is a very rare exception for me.

I haven’t even played GTA IV yet. Its on my list, I swear!

IGN is having a week of exclusives about GTA V and GTA Online this week - nothing terribly ground-breaking so far, but good reads.

Any interest in setting up a SMDB Crew for GTA Online? I have a crew that I set up a while back that I never really used much that I can open up to SMDB people; I’ve also offered it as an option for folks from www.gamerswithjobs.com, which also has a pretty quality user base. It’s called the Perestroika VIP Club, and right now its got a total membership of “Me.” I think you can request an invite into the club; post here or if the Social Club gives you the ability, mention in the invite that you’re from the SMDB and I’ll invite you in. I’m expecting to be pretty active; I was level 10 in GTA IV, with almost 9.5 million in cash (xp).

Just saw a clip and read that there is a full golf, tennis and road cycle racing games within GTA V.

Think of how fun it’ll be to go there with your cousin in order to preserve useful perks.

Is that going to be in the game? I hated how you had to work out and crap in San Andreas.

The minigames? Definitely.

The need to carefully maintain a certain BMI in order to get a specific girlfriend? But a wildly different one for another? And the whiny jerk-ass cousin? Hopefully not.

There is no girlfriend side mission in V.

I’m looking forward to it. I’ve enjoyed all the GTA games so far, and I think I’ve liked them more with each sequel too.

When are cheat codes typically released?

So far, the lowest review is Eurogamer at 9/10.

How are you finding it?
