GTA IV Reviews start pouring in

Anyone have links to reviews for GTA IV yet?

Gamespot just released theirs, it got a 10. The first 10 I’ve seen there in years.

I might just get an xbox for this one, I can also use it as a media center extender so it’s win win really. Now, to convince the SO…

IGN also gave it a 10/10 and I tend to agree as it is absolutely awesome.
It is very similar to the other GTA games but the city is really something to behold, as it is just bustling with detail and life.
Almost every aspect of the game has been greatly improved, but it still is GTA, so the mission/story structure is very similar to the previous ones.

AVERAGE score of 25 reviews: 99/100. Incredible.

The game is incredible. The beauty is really in the details. Just like Halo 3 moved up the bar for the multiplayer experience, this game has moved up the bar for the adventure game genre. It’s really a next-generation game and it’s a sight to behold on every level.

Got it last night at 00:00. Played till 03:00 mostly messing around multiplayer.

So far I’m LOVING it. The driving takes a bit of getting used to but the shooting element is greatly improved. Looking forwrad to really getting into the single player when i get home tonight.

I spent the first 10 mins just sitting in the first apartment watching Ricky Gervais standup on the TV in the room, I didn’t know about the TV and was blown away.

Amazing game.

I watched “The Mens Room” for 10 minutes as my jaw hit the floor, just taking in the intricacies in this stupid game.

I loved GTA III, thought GTA: Sin City was OK and hated GTA: San Andreas. I wasn’t excited about this game at all until you guys started talking about it here. Now I want to run out and buy it but don’t want to get burned. Anyone else out there not like the previous games but think this one is good?

UPS is supposed to be bringing it to me any time. Usually they’re here about 10:00 AM, but now it’s 1:30 and no sign yet. :frowning:

I’ve seen too many reviews. I need to quit watching them until I play the game. My big question is, I know the city is huge but does the “old” Liberty City from GTA III appear in GTA IV?

I’ve got a copy preordered and waiting for me after work today. I started downloading the latest firmware for my PS3 this morning, and I paired a bluetooth headset to the PS3 for multiplayer.

I’ll even have my new dualshock controller waiting for me when I get home today.

I’m set.

Well, what didn’t you like about those games?

Make no mistake – GTAIV is GTA to the bone. It’s more of the same, albeit enhanced.

No. Liberty City IS New York City. They renamed the boroughs and New Jersey, but it’s NYC.

Yeah, I knew that, I was just never sure how accurate the layout was. Was the area that GTA III started in, with the strip clubs, elevated railway, car dealership where you could steal the Cheetah from, etc, accurate? And does that same area with the same stores appear in GTA IV? I wanna go back to the original GTA III hideout, stuff like that.

Nope. It’s New York City. You may be able to lay a map of NYC over it and see striking similarities.

It’s not the old Liberty City from GTA III.

Awww hell, I think I’ll return it.

Just kidding, can’t wait to play this bad boy!

Picked up my preorder at midnight, played it from about 12:45 to 6 a.m., and just woke up now (2 p.m.). It’s absolutely incredible in every respect.

Can anyone explain to me how this game works as a multiplayer game? I’ve played Vice City and San Andreas and I don’t see how the gameplay of either of those would translate into something people could co-op on.

Multiplayer has a bunch of modes, free-for-all, team deathmatch, racing, cops and crooks, and some co-op missions. The co-op missions are special missions just for multiplayer mode.

From all the reviews I’ve seen they really did multiplayer right, but it doesn’t seem especially strong in co-op.

Fucking huge lol

“The Men’s Room with Bas and Jeremy” on the tv

Another thing about multiplayer, your score isn’t the number of kills, it’s dollars. You have to go loot the bodies of your fallen foes. Keeps somebody from holing up somewhere with a sniper rifle. Diabolical!

Does anyone else think the PS3 version is really, really blurry? It’s like Niko is nearsighted.

Maybe I’m just sitting too close to the screen (I have my PS3 hooked up to my HD monitor on my desk, not a TV), but I don’t know, it’s annoying as hell.
