Grapes of Wrath movie: What was that camp?

Toward the end of the movie Grapes of Wrath, the Joads found refuge for a while at some strange milk-and-honey type of camp/park.
I was thinking that it was some kind of WPA camp, or else some CCC camp, but I never was sure, and I haven’t read the book.
Can anybody enlighten me in this matter?
thanks,
hh

Steinbeck doesn’t explicitly say who runs the camp, but it’s clearly a New Deal program. In the film, the guy running it looks a lot like FDR.

The book’s ending is a lot different than the film, but it would be very hard to portray the ending of the book on the screen.

What the heck, who know’s if there is someone who wants a surprise.

Rose O’Sharon ends up feeding a starving man with her own breast milk after the Joads leave the camp and end up with more problems.

Resettlement or FSA Camps were used during the Dust Bowl years of the Great Depression. Farmers (mostly from Oklahoma and the surrounding states) lost their farms and went to California as migrant labor.

You really should read the book.
