A couple of posts on the band the Eagles received the cold shoulder. I was pretty hurt, though only mention it here, since I feel confident that no one’s going to scroll down this far. Except you guys who already feel a bit hurt yourselves and aren’t going to give me a hard time about it.
I think folks here are too sophisticated to admit to liking these guys. Or is it that they’re making zillions on their “farewell” tour?
They were good too. Worth the $95 x 3. Wish Don had done his angry bit with ‘The Last Resort’, though.
I’ve never started a reply-less thread, but I have quite a few that come close. All of my threads about Tears For Fears, for example (TFF gets no love here ). Also, my “stream of consciousness” thread and “giant mass of unfocused self-analytical crap” thread did not garner much attention; go figure on that one.
I did start a 12-pager over in MPSIMS…and I’d probably be prouder of that if it weren’t a “post your picture” thread.
Out of 500 threads started, 6 have no replies. 48 with a single reply. Only one thread of mine was ever locked.
Sorry about the lack of luck with I.D.ing your squid movie, koeeoaddi. If it’s of any conciliation, I now have the weird quote stuck in my head.

I consistently feel like an outsider around here. My OP’s go ignored or ridiculed, my replies to other threads are either ignored or, seemingly so often as to boggle the mind, kill the thread outright.
A couple only got a single post, one at least got no interest at all. Some have gone to a couple of dozen replies, none yet have made it to a second page.
Incubus If you want guaranteed replies try to bring cats into it.
Earthling, how the hell did you get that data? That was good stuff.
Out of the 15 threads I started with my curent username (I switched some months back), none have died outright, but the longest one is 13 replies. My average posts per thread is a fairly low: just under 7. I seem to have good title writing skills, because I get a lot of views, but not a lot of replies.
It shouldn’t matter, but somehow it does, huh? Ah, well.
Incubus, it would have been really ironic if this thread hadn’t gotten any replies…
A bunch, though to be fair, I sometimes ask bizarre (read: stupid) questions, so for most of those with no replies, I understand. Others I chalk up to the fact that I posted them on the weekend and they died before Monday. Just recently I posted a thread extolling “The Two Jakes” as a worthy sequel to “Chinartown.” I expected at least a couple people to pop in and tell me I was full of shit, but no… I guess everyone agreed with my brilliant reasoning!
I have actually saved a thread or two from the zero response fate, if I do say so myself. There have been a couple times where I found a Page Five or Six thread with no responses, responded to it, and it immediately got five or six more responses.
I didn’t say I found them and replied out of pity. Honestly, they were dead threads that interested me enough to reply.
But, I can be bribed, quite easily. . . say one reply for every original magazine with a Robert Heinlein or Harlan Ellison story – that’s not asking too much, is it?
Not pity, but some people couldn’t be bothered to reply to a thread that had slipped past everyone else’s radar. There can be a bit of a herd mentality at times. But you are the lone wolf. Aroo!
Oh dear. Here I was thinking more along the lines of a cookie.
175 threads. Only 11 have gone over the page mark (and the only one to go over three pages is this). But only 9 have had zero replies, so I guess I’m doing OK on average.
I also started what may actually be the dumbest thread to hit the page mark.
I am not a thread-starting powerhouse like some of you, since I often decide not to bother. I have started seven threads. All got at least one reply. My two lowest got two replies (one by me) and five replies (two by me). My most popular thread had forty-one replies. I often don’t even start threads because I think the idea I have is too silly. That’s really saying something, considering the threads I did bother to start.
