Greased my first landing in 6 months! [Flying]

I went flying yesterday for the first time since October – man, it was good to get in the air again! It had been so long that I had started to lose touch with my enthusiasm for doing it, and I was also a bit worried about my stick and rudder skills.

One landing later: bingo. Right back in the saddle! A gentle kiss onto the center line in a decent crosswind. Even my instructor (there to keep me honest after such a long layoff) was impressed. After 4 more of those I felt like I hadn’t missed a day.

It’s funny how the “out of sight, out of mind” thing happens even with favorite hobbies and pursuits. Two days ago I would have given flying a solid “meh” on my list of priorities.

Today, I’m hatching daibolical schemes for long cross country trips with friends!

There. It’s pointless. It’s mundane. But I had to share

I went snowshoeing yesterday for the first time in more than 20 years. Not that it was a regular habit of mine then. But, I had an opportunity, and I took it. One of my companions, who hadn’t been snowshoeing in more that 30 years decided that if she’d known it was this much fun, she’d have been doing it more regularly–including making plans for buying her own equipment. It was really quite amusing.
