<b>WICKED CITY</b> is an excellent combination of hard-boiled film noir and science fiction. Great story, excellent characterizations–moody, atmospheric, and action packed. Technically, it’s not as grandiose as AKIRA in terms of the color palette and stylization, but it’s every bit as good a film.
Recently saw the new version of VAMPIRE HUNTER D, and found it to be disappointing in the storytelling department, although the visuals (including computer animation) are excellent. I would recommend the older version to people who just like good horror/science fiction films.
