Great article about Woodrow Wilson

Another article in the NYTimes about Wilson and his legacy at Princeton. A historian discusses an idea where Wilson’s name is retained, but a monument is built to speak to the issues of racism and segregation right next to/outside it. The historian comments that “The important thing is to write segregation and race into the story, not write racists out of it.”

Bumped.

nd until say 1830s the North had slaves; who do you think picked tobacco in Connecticut? (and Sojurner Truth)

Exactly, American history has been rewritten to meet white racists’ standards for a couple of centuries. Now, when people try to tell the truth, some folks get the vapors.

Interesting coincidence. The President’s middle and last names were Woodrow Wilson. His actual first name was Thomas. He was known as Tommy Wilson growing up. He apparently decided that Tommy was too childish when he was in college and started going by his middle name, which he felt sounded more adult.

Wilson is an “also” in my list of presidents. I know nothing about him.
