Great harmonies in song

Wow! Very impressive and a capella!

AND without instruments!

Teenage Fanclub - Ain’t That Enough

The Jayhawks - Pray For Me

Gary Louris and Mark Olson’s voices together always had a special magic, just like Gram Parsons’ and Emmylou Harris’:

We’ll Sweep Out The Ashes In The Morning

Love Hurts

The Louvin Brothers - Kentucky

And the Gosdin Brothers covering the Louvins exquisitely:

I’ll Live With God (To Die No More)

Great pick

Almost 50 years after Riu Chiu, Mike and Micky could still sing pretty well together:

Me And Magdalena

Forgot: Songs From The Wood, Jethro Tull

Sounds like they’re channeling The Byrds.

Oh yes, they have been always fans of the Byrds. The have a song named “Gene Clark” which sounds like Neil Young with Crazy Horse, but they also have a song named “Neil Jung”, which sounds like Big Star. Great band anyway.

5th Dimension - AQUARIUS/Let The Sunshine In
The B-52’s 52 Girls

“White Bird” from It’s a Beautiful Day. Lots of great harmonies on that album.

Traffic had some great harmonies; Winwood and Capaldi’s voices just meshed. “Heaven is in Your Mind” is one example.

Yeah, there seems to be enough old fashioned love songs coming down in three point harmony here.

Not sure about my ears if this pretty cool Monkees song, Valleri, has harmonizing during the catchy chorus, or if they’re just simply shadowing (or doubling) (or in this case tripling) each other.

Here’s an a capella performer, Peter Hollens, who does some great harmonies
It looks like he’s doing quintuple tracking in this version of “Loch Lomond”:

Maybe just triple tracking on “Shenandoah”?

Crowded House - Weather with you. When I heard this the very first time I thought it was a copy of CSN&Y

There’s something about siblings harmonizing. My favorite harmonies of Crowded House (and Split Enz before that) were Neil Finn and his brother Tim; they’ve done some touring with just the two of them.

Here’s an acoustic version of Won’t Give In. Powerfully emotional, but I’m touched even more by their song about talking to each other at night as kids, Disembodied Voices.

I see what you did there.

I’ll never understand why Three Dog Night aren’t in the R&R Hall of Fame.

A couple of people have already mentioned The Andrews Sisters. The Boswell Sisters were another close harmony sister group that (in my opinion) were better. Here they are singing Everybody Loves My Baby.

Ooh, good call! Those ladies sure can harmonize. Roam is a particular favourite. And Deadbeat Club.

Someone on youtube made a great suggestion - there should be a musical of B52s songs, like the ABBA ones.

Most anything by The Pipettes. E.g., the interestingly named The Burning Ambition Of Early Diuretics

Nobody going to mention Suite Judy Blue Eyes?

Always had a soft spot for “hymn” by Barclay James Harvest. Lovely harmonies, lovely song.

The Haden Triplets (daughters of the late Charlie Haden) sing some great harmonies.
