Great movies

My boyfriend and I are into watching movies, whether they be well-known and popular or old, forgotten and not very popular. So what are your favorite movies? These can be any kind of movies-action, comedy, drama, horror, whatever. Give me some good ideas for those cold winter days.

Well, of course, I —

[Ukulele Ike, Dropzone, Chef and about a dozen others hogpile on Eve and tape her mouth shut to keep her from going on endlessly about how superior esoteric, pre-1940 movies are]

Yellow Submarine and Head are good at any time, both have great music and good random comedy. Brazil is a classic but the first time you see it you will be completely confused.

In no particular order:

Das Boot
M
The Shawshank Redemption
The Usual Suspects
Six String Samurai
Il Postino
Trainspotting
Being John Malkovich
Pi
Requiem for a Dream
The Woman Chaser
Barton Fink
The Fisher King
Ed Wood

I’m sure there’s many more, but that’s what i have for now.

Well as you boyfriend flynnstone, I would have to say any movie that you like with the exception of really girl movies.

I really like (in no particular order): Boondock Saints, Fight Club, The Matrix, The Star Wars Trilogy, Schindler’s List, Saving Private Ryan, Reservior Dogs, and Seven. That’s all I can think of now.

All except the first one are in no particular order.

The Matrix (best film ever, imho)
The Sixth Sense
Toy Story 2 (saw it this weekend, funny)
Pulp Fiction
Any James Bond Movie (but especially the more recent ones)
Face Off
Terminator 2
Gladiator

That is all I can think of right now, but I know there are dozens more I could have said.

Blazing Saddles

The Blues Brothers

Army of Darkness

Thanks, mongrel_8, but I already knew what movies you liked!
RickQ, I completely agree with you about The Matrix. In fact, I just watched it again last night.

Just rented ‘Wheres Marlowe?’ at Blockbuster. It was great! Should be in New Releases.

In my bio class we had to watch this movie Awakenings, with Robert Deniro and Robin Williams, it was really good, i believe that Deniro got an oscar for his performance in that. My personal favs are all stupid comedies, Austin Powers types. Matthew Perry is great, get Fools Rush In or the Whole Nine Yards, Anything Adam Sandler, I also love Jackie Chan in comedies, like Shanghi Noon, that was good, he’s done a couple other. I’m totally with y’all on the Matrix that was sweet, another great action/fight moive was Romeo Must Die, that’s a good one.

Pulp Fiction
Singin’ In The Rain
Braveheart
Ferris Bueller
Planet of the Apes (I am such a sucker for this cheesy movie)

Big Trouble in Little China
The Last of the Mohicans (1992)
The Princess Bride

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
The Sting
The Hustler
Planet of The Apes

The Party

Really, shouldn’t this be in IMHO? Oh well…here goes:

Star Wars trilogy (counts as one, BEST series of all!)
Indiana Jones trilogy (also damn good (Harrison ford rules!))
Back to the Future trilogy (Chistopher Lloyd also rules)
Shawshank Redemption (Morgon Freeman is superb in this movie)
Angus (I love the ‘boy picked on, gets self confidence, fights back’ type of movies. Plus, the star in this movie acts VERY well, I think (too bad that girl he’s with can’t!)
UHF (hilariously funny, Micheal Richards funniest role)
Independence Day (Bill Pulman’s speech is so damn inspirational)

There’s more I’m sure, but I can’t think of them right now.

Yipes!!! Matthew Perry is what? NM… that’s a topic perhaps for GD, eh?

Some Mel Brooks comedies:

Blazing Saddles

Others:

Pulp Fiction
Pi
Monty Python and the Quest for the Holy Grail
Twelve Monkeys
Seven
The Princess Bride
Saving Private Ryan
The Usual Suspects

Chameleon Street
Henry Fool
Fast, Cheap & Out Of Control
The Opposite Of Sex
Miller’s Crossing
