Great series you somehow missed during their original runs

I was much too young to watch it in its original run, but I’m hooked on Twin Peaks. I’ve watched the first season and now I’m waiting for my boyfriend to catch up so we can watch the second season. My best friend is waiting for both of us to watch the second season so we can discuss the ending at great length.

I’m also considering getting hooked on Scrubs. I’ve seen a few rerun episodes and I’ve liked what I’ve seen so far. Ditto on Seinfeld which was on during my “I don’t like anything that’s wildly popular” phase. Of course, from what I’ve seen, I was too young to really appreciate *Seinfeld *during its original run.

Like almost everybody in the world, Firefly (does saying “I actually saw a broadcast episode of Firefly” count as major nerd cred points?). Didn’t watch until at least a couple years after it aired.

I also didn’t really watch Futurama during its initial airing. I saw two eps or so and thought it was fine in a Simpsons-meets-Star-Trek way. It wasn’t during the interim that I really started watching and realized the unique brand of genius they created with that series.

The Wire is my biggie, but also The King of Queens and, believe it or not, Friends.
mmm

I also never saw Firefly during it’s original run. The marketing made it sound terrible.

When Millenium first came out I had no interest. Then a year or two ago the cable/satellite station Chiller started showing it so I decided, what the heck. I got hooked and watched all three seasons (but stopped after that).

I really liked the show, and geek that I am, I loved how much technology was a part of the show.

I don’t know if it qualifies as a “Great Series” but I only watched (and loved!) 3rd Rock from the Sun after it went into syndication.

Dead Like Me.

Mainly I didn’t know about it during it initial airing because I don’t get whatever cable station it is on. Wish it had lasted longer though. It was much better than you’d expect from a show lasting only 2 seasons.

I forgot all about 3rd Rock. I need to get Netflix so I can watch the whole series because I really liked the random episodes I saw in syndication.

Oh yea, that one too. I loved that show. A word of warning: don’t watch the Dead Like Me movie because it sucks. If you have already watched it, didn’t it suck?

I only caught it from the middle to the end. I thought it meh.

You can still catch Breaking Bad, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and House, as all have new episodes yet to air.

I was going to list Dr. Who as well, but it also has new episodes yet to air and I’m sure I’ll be on board with those.

The Wire: watched it this year
Larry Sanders: was overseas and never heard of it until I returned in 1998. Hands down one of the funniest series ever made.
Seinfeld: believe it or not, and for the same reasons as Larry Sanders.

Frasier: Never got into it until college when I would watch it on the Lifetime network before I headed off to class. It was my morning routine.

Friends: Freshman year roommate and The One That Got Away loved this show. The three of us would watch it and play the trivia game constantly

Sports Night: My absolute favorite tv show of all time…and I didn’t watch one bit of it until it was on Comedy Central.

Northern Exposure: saw one episode as a teenager, didn’t really pay attention. Years later saw a rerun on A&E, and… wow. Finally got the entire series on DVD. Best. Show. Ever!

King of the Hill.

Home Improvement.

I guess I technically started watching it while it was still making new episodes, but I started watching Scrubs in reruns, and I don’t think I ever watched a first run episode.

West Wing, The Sopranos and Scrubs.

I don’t watch much tv, so don’t usually bother seeing something when it first comes out. What will usually happen is the Mister will follow a show, and if it catches my interest, I’ll get hooked on it and watch it in re-runs. (or on Netflix)

The only one I got hooked on semi-current to it’s original run was Lost. I got interested during the second season, looked up and watched the first season and then stayed current until the last season or two.

I’d rather surf the net.

“Hardcastle and McCormick” premiered when I was 2, but I didn’t see any of it then. Now, with my purchase of the DVD releases of all three of its seasons, I was able to enjoy it through and through and get acquainted with what I missed when it was on ABC from 1983-86.

Cheers, Fraiser and Friends.

I watch very little original TV, but catch a lot of syndication after work.

Firefly - missed the series but saw Serenity and was told Firefly was the same stuff - Fantastic show..

There are several shows I started watching late in their runs but the only one I can think of that matches all the requirements of this Thread is The Wire. I watched all of the seasons last summer and loved it.

Titus - never ever heard of it - say a recomendation on line - watched the first episode and was hooked - Pure comedy gold
