The Big Bang Theory theme song link. TV Guide once called it “the best theme song.”
And, as an added bonus, the theme song from young Sheldon
TV Theme Songs
This site has oodles of past and present theme music.
Some of my old favorites are:
Adventures in Paradise - Theme Song
Then Came Bronson - Theme Song
Bob Cummings Show - Theme Song
Lupin III - YouTube Although I think this miiiiiiiight me an extended version. This popped up in my youtube because of the aforementioned Cowboy Bebop tune. Thought I’d give it a click and I’m glad I did.
Andy Griffith Show (extended?) The Andy Griffith Show theme song - YouTube I’m having trouble finding the version with lyrics that wasn’t Andy Griffith. This song will always bring a smile to my face as it was the song in my daughter’s first tap performance many years ago.
It’s funny what your brain coughs up when asked such a broad question
A couple of well-known ones:
Star Trek TNG
The A Team
a couple more obscure ones:
The Dreamstone
Duck Tales
Allo allo (before you say it, I know this show was terrible)
Theme to The Dick van Dyke Show, with lyrics written by Morey Amsterdam:
I never heard of an ***Andy Griffith Show*** theme not sung by Andy, but here's one that is: Here's the outro for ***Gomer Pyle, USMC***. Like the themes of ***F Troop*** and ***Hogan's Heroes*** (which I've heard played at Veterans' Day parades), it really is a snappy military march; the bridge in the middle is my favorite part. From 1962 to 1966, Tuesday night was for watching ***Combat!*** and ***McHale's Navy*** on KMSP (Channel 9). My God, how I loved these two shows when I was in grades 2 through 5! :oHere’s one show I wish they’d bring back in reruns: Henessey, with Jackie Cooper.
That is, Hennesey, with two n’s.
1966–67 would have been the greatest season ever if they’d kept McHale’s Navy on the schedule.
As it was, Batman debuted in January, and both Star Trek and Time Tunnel came along in September (so did Rat Patrol and Green Hornet).
The second was written by "Johnny" Williams (OMG, Lee Meriwether in those tight knee-length skirts and lab coats! Mmmmmmmmmm! :o). In the first, you can hear the influence of Wilbur Hatch (Desilu's music director) around the 36 second mark. The great trumpeter Al Hirt played the third.
Some of my faves have already been mentioned. The Prisoner and most of the Gerry Anderson stuff.
I would like to offer up the theme from Wallander. Emily Barker - Nostalgia (Wallander version) - YouTube
I don’t know where you stand on the LIS reboot, but they gave the original theme the full-orchestral treatment and use it for the closing credits: Lost In Space (2018) End Credits.
In other news:
I played trumpet in junior high school band, so I am partial to the Dynasty theme. (Which probably explains my fondness for Simon & Simon and Galactica.)
Save time on the second by going immediately to the 29 second mark if it doesn’t open there automatically. I tried setting it that way, but it doesn’t always work.
You wrote “Lee Merriwether” I heard “Lee Marvin” and thought, “Taste really is subjective.”
Speaking of Lee Marvin…
I can see him in a lab coat, maybe. Tight skirts? I doubt it! :eek:Here is Count Basie’s recording of the same theme. And yes, you’ve probably heard it elsewhere. ![]()
gregorio already got mine yesterday. Rockford Files was the best use of a theremin outside of a sci-fi show.
I see I screwed up and posted ***Time Tunnel ***twice (the one at the top does open at 29 seconds in). Here is the version of the Star Trek theme I wanted to post:
You can tell it’s early in Season One because of the big star cluster in the center of the screen.
