How about The Schmoo?
It’s the new Schmoo…
The incredible new Schmoo.
He’s gonna please you…
This incredible new Schmoo.
Does anybody remember the Schmoo and his teenage sidekicks? I think one of them was named Billy Joe.
No cartoon theme song is cooler than Cool McCool’s. It’s 1966, and you can sure tell, with this groovy combination of surf guitars and acid Hammond organ.
Lucky Luke is pretty damn good too. Or, as we say en francaise, “Looky Look.”
I actually listen to my mp3 of the Inspector Gadget theme song on a regular basis… go gadget gooo.
What!
No Popeye?
Gee thanks!!!, Now that frikken song will stuck in my head all day… :smack:
Many great ones mentioned already, especially 8th Man , Top Cat , & Underdog .
More of my favorites:
Go-Go Gophers
Wait Till Your Father Gets Home
King Leonardo
Milton the Monster
and I can’t believe no one has mentioned Tennessee Tuxedo !
Ooh! Yes, links to themes. Here’s my list again with youtube links …
Johnny Quest original opener
Pink Panther <- This link actually mixes images from the cartoon and the cartoon parts of the movies – I’m not sure that makes it a “legit” theme song. And just for the hell of it, The Dragonball Z Techno Remix.
Teen Titans
Foster’s Home For Imaginary Friends
Bobobo-bo bo-bobo
Good old Duck Dodgers. I’m not sure what the Italian business is about, but it’s only a second at the beginning and end.
And after re-listening to everything, I changed my mind. Cowboy Bebop is #1.
Always loved the old **Scooby Doo ** theme (70’s version).
Nowadays, the Venture Bros.
I will just add that I don’t think anything else is even in the same league as Cowboy Bebop.
Harvey Birdman’s theme is pretty kick-ass, though.
Pinky and the Brain. That and Spider-Man were the only ones I ever bothered to memorize.
Gummi Bears.
Wait… Tobor was a real show? When I look back at my childhood I always thought I imagined it. No one my age remembers it. I thought it was “Ape Man” but still. Cool.
Damn you, that’s such a good one.
Oh, also, The Tick.
Speed Racer, Sailor Moon, Kim Possible.
Seconded. They all get the premise of the show across while still sounding cool. Though I prefer the original Japanese opening theme for Sailor Moon, “Moonlight Densetsu.” Other anime theme songs I like are the one for Bleach and the third (I think) opening theme for Naruto, “Go!” (aka "“Fighting Dreamers”).
Oh, wait, we’re supposed to avoid anime? Sorry. :o
I also like the Camp Lazlo theme. And don’t forget SpongeBob Squarepants!
Who lives in a pineapple under the sea?..
You either missed mr. jp’s post or you don’t have any taste. “Gummi Bears” was also mentioned.
Also, there’s the Spanish version of “Freakazoid” (Fenomenoide), notable for the minimalist single voices of a man and woman. Plus:
Kotetsu Jeegu (though I can’t decide whether I like the original or the Italian version better
Heathcliff
Chipmunks Go to the Movies
Taz-mania
The Spanish closing to Mazinger Z
There’s also the Ren & Stimpy closing credit’s theme, but I can’t find a link.
Then on the otherwise forgettable syndicated shows side:
James Bond Jr.
BOTS Master
Bucky O’Hare
It’s unusual to have a question in Cafe Society with a factual answer but nonetheless, the answer is Underdog. It’s also my ringtone.
::stoic, squinty eyed smilie::
I listened to the entire 54 seconds of that just so I could be certain to hate you for pointlessly sharing a theme that doesn’t vary a note from intros to the theatrical shorts that predate that series a couple of decades.
