Now wait just a minute. Isn’t that Tom Jones singing the Duck Dodgers theme?
Certainly is. Which makes it the winner. Oh…oh…I see you over there…doing the potty-dance…wanting to shout out some 13-episode minor cool-points cartoon from the sixties…keep it inside, buster…keep it inside…
Has anyone mentioned Courageous Cat and Minute Mouse yet?
Minimalist Jazz, and my first high-hat ride. Great cartoon too… it wasn’t until I was a few years older (around ten or eleven, not my thirties!) that I realized that all those characters were real people. But then again, Edward G. Robinson will always be The Frog to me
I love the theme songs from The New Adventures of Pinocchio and Tales of the Wizard of Oz.
These were popular cartoons in Canada in the 1960s.
What, no love for The Power Puff Girls?
I do believe you’ve been outvoted on that one.
Actually, I have official backing. Cracked.com theme list
Also, they describe the beauty of it better than I could:
"Just like the idea for the series as a whole, there’s no logical rationale why the theme for this show should work. Clumsy lyrics (“When the evil Shredder attacks/The turtle boys don’t cut him no slack”), overblown electronic rock, and random, unbelievably square shout-outs from the Turtles themselves, (“We’re really hip!” one turtle reassures the audience) don’t exactly seem like the ingredients for an engrossing, addictively catchy theme. But damn it all if the whole thing doesn’t work somehow, and has permanently ingrained itself into the American pop culture subconscious possibly deeper than any other song on this list. Experiment: Go into any college bar across the country and drop the opening lyrics to this song. We guarantee the whole crowd will be singing along in Pavlovian unison by the end of the first verse. "
Gummi Bears
Thundercats
G.I. Joe
M.A.S.K.
And another of the greatest, simply by being a little too memorable, The Smurfs.
Not mentioned yet:
Invader Zim
Futurama
Aqua Teen Hunger Force
That’s what I was going to nominate. Spend time in your average karaoke bar around here and it won’t be too long before someone starts singing it (well, Utchu-senkan Yamato, but who’s counting?).
Well, I came into nominate George of the Jungle and Pinky and the Brain, but thye’ve already been mentioned. How about Yogi Bear?
Yogi Bear is smarter than the average bear
Yogi Bear is always in the ranger’s hair…
Also, the themes from the Simpsons and South Park are classics.
My favorite remains the theme from Underdog - although I don’t know why.
I still have these ones running through my head…they must be great if they are still rattling around my brain after 35 years (last time I saw them).
Tales of the Wizard of Oz
New Adventures of Pinocchio. God this was bad. I remember thinking that it was bad even at 5, but didn’t have the willpower to turn off the [del]Goddess of Entertainment[/del] TV
[edit] Gahhh…Gregor Samsa listed these above. I wish I had access to youtube…
I’ve always liked the theme to The Critic. It’s a shame that show doesn’t air anymore.
Oooh, good call.
[hijack]
And a year later, I’m still wondering about the Bowling Ball Muffins in your location.

“At a picnic table you will find him there.
Scarfing down more goodies than the average bear.”
I’m ashamed to admit that I can recite that from memory.
I can’t hear “Pop Goes The Weasel” without the theme to “I Am Weasel” running through my head.
You don’t need pants for the victory dance
Cuz baboon’s better than weasel
I.R. Baboon, big star of cartoon…
“I.M. Weasel!”
The original “Rocky the Flying Squirrel” theme http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jHk4VXMlE8Y
Followed by the themes to Fractured Fairy Tales (truncated here) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pN9uhBY36YA
and Peabody’s Improbable History http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x62A4OWCs68&mode=related&search=
and George of the Jungle.
•Sonic the Hedgehog (ABC Saturday morning version. You know, the one that didn’t suck.)
•The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest (1996)—(I keep meaning to ask which episode they took the footage of Jessie flipping her hair back over her head, at about 40 seconds in. To quote 13 year old me: Yow.)
•Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (I am still of the opinion that this song needs to be included on the collection of music attached to the next deep-space probe.)
•*Cybersix*. (Why was this series canceled? Because the universe hates us…oh, fine, and low ratings. But mostly because the universe hates us.)
Ahem.
