I haven’t read the replies yet, but you left out Grace Slick and Janis Joplin.
(And my votes included Joey Ramone. How come my vote no show up?)
Of all the acts listed, I’ve only seen Heart and they sucked. Father Feely and the Molesters would make a better group than the Heart I saw in concert, and this is coming from a Heart fan in the greatest-hits sense.
Of all the acts listed that I’ve seen bits and pieces of on YouTube, etc. it’s Freddie Mercury by a mile. Not only was he an incredible singer, he was an incredible showman.
Sir Mick.
Well, there’s Iggy Pop, then everyone else (some credit him with “inventing” the stage dive). Check the link to get an example of his antics.
Okay, I know he won’t get voted for, but if you have a spare 20 minutes, watch this hilarious description of Iggy’s stage antics by Henry Rollins.
John Fogerty, Creedence Clearwater Revival
No Janis, no vote.
Freddie Mercury.
My band was just practicing some Queen songs last night. Not only was Freddie an amazing singer and performer, but he is a member of a band that remains unique decades after his death.
Hmm this poll would have been a lot more interesting if you could pick 5. Freddie is going to run away with it.
If you are referring to his days with the other New Kids On The Block guys, Donnie seemed to be more of a leader than the other four.
I voted for other because the first act that came to my mind is not listed either. I just have one question. Who is considered the leader of the Eagles anyways?
God bless you and them and the NKOTB always!!!

I would think that if you need to ask, then they aren’t one of the great frontmen. The band itself may be great, but if there isn’t a single identifiable frontman then I don’t think they rate (Like the Beatles).
Yeah, I screwed it up. Maybe I should do a “Greatest Frontman not named Freddie Mercury” bracket.
Somebody has to nominate Ian Gillan, so I volunteer.
Mercury as singer, Jagger as showman.
If the poll had been best singer I could see Freddie being up there, and as a showman he was great, but really Diamond Dave was the better frontman.
Pffft! How many unplanned pregnancies happened as a result of “I’ll Be Loving You Forever” vs. how many as a result of “Hanging Tough”?
I rest my case. Donnie Wahlberg was lucky to be in a group with a pop music legend like Jordan Knight.
^^^ Even if Jordan had more song leading time, Donnie seemed more like the leader of the group.
God bless you and the guys always!!!

I always preferred Marky Mark.
And he’s got that great antiques show on PBS!
Mark me in the Mercury column as well.
I chose Robert Plant… not my favorite front man personally but there is no denying his presence.
It was either Mercury or Daltry for me. Since I could only pick one, I chose Freddie. Sorry, Roger.
