Greatest sports movie?

Caddyshack.

Any questions?

Top 3 for me, without question

Bull Durham
When We Were Kings
The Black Stallion

The Natural. Second place goes to Major League.

Hoop Dreams, if docs count.

What no love for The Longest yard ? (the original)

Raging Bull would get a vote…

Eight Men Out would be another choice for me…

*No love for Will Farrell in Semi-Pro? Yeah, me either…

What movie is that?

Can you explain that? What kind of co-workers?

As for the OP, I love Breaking Away although it’s as much about growing up as it is about the sport.

Geez, I can’t believe I didn’t think of Million Dollar Baby.

Miracle
Bull Durham
Field of Dreams

Eight Men Out

what about something for joey

Why? Does joey need a sports movie suggestion?

The Red Skull, no contest.

The kind who had to leave Iraq real fast in the 80s. Saddam didn’t much like Christians, nor they him.

I am not a horse racing fan, but if you consider horse racing a sport, one of the contenders has to be **The Black Stallion **which I consider to be one of the best five movies I have seen in over 65 years of going to the movies.

Hoosiers, easily. Every response that’s not Hoosiers should have to explain why.

I’m a huge fan of Rocky, but it’s more of a character study than a movie that captures the essence of sports.

Maybe he meant Mickey Rourke, not Mickey Rooney.

Well, Rooney was in both The Black Stallion (for which he got an Oscar nod) and National Velvet 30+ years earlier

The answer is Dodgeball.

Seabiscuit is second, followed by Remember the Titans.

(By greatest, you do mean, “would rather watch right now”, dont you?)

rooney as johnny czar, the roller derby star.
