Hah! Beat you by three minutes!
Emmitt “Smiff” broke that record but to me “Sweetness” will ALWAYS be the better RB. And I’m not even a Chicago Bears’ fan.
Actually, mine was the first response within this thread. If you look higher up you’ll see that I “won” that particular “competition.”
I mean that I beat your correction or tsktsking of me for not reading the OP by three minutes.
I don’t know about it being a “great” record, but it was a record nontheless:
George Blanda held the NFL record for most interceptions thrown for 32 years. It’s only been beaten once.
Gotta go with Bob Beamon’s long jump. Look what he does to the chart in 1968.
In hockey, there is the coveted 50 goals in 50 games record. It was initially set by the legendary ‘Rocket’ Richard in 1944-45. Richard was the first player ever to score 50 goals and it just happened to be that the season was only 50 games back then.
The record itself has since been shattered, by Wayne Gretzky (50 in 39 games), but it remains the gold standard for goal scorers. That is evident by the short list of elite players who have matched or broken the record, but Rocket Richard stood alone for 36 years.
