Following the cliche Behind the Music story arc a bit too closely…

Video of his onstage rant.

Certainly seems like he’s on some kind of coke binge, although I’ve never seen Green Day live, so I’m not sure if he’s known for acting like a diva.

“I’ve been around since fuckin’ nineteen eighty fuckin’ eight.” Wow, congratulations Billie Jo. You may be older than Justin Bieber but you’re hardly the godfather of punk.

I once got to witness a Billie Jo diatribe - Lollapalooza '94 in Miami.

GD had just come from playing Woodstock '94, where they engaged with the audience in the mother-of-all mudfights, resulting in the mud-covered bass player getting confused for one of the mud-covered fans who had rushed the mud-covered stage, and he got some of his mud-covered teeth knocked out by one of the mud-covered security guys.

So, Billie Jo came out alone to fucking rant at fucking us about it, and oh yeah, fuck this, they fucking wouldn’t be fucking playing at fucking all. (Even though there were a gaggle of more than adequate bass players from other bands that could have filled in.) Thus ensued the mother-of-all plastic-bottle and other loose-item fights among the idle crowd and some of the bands that followed later.

Luckily for me, I hadn’t come to see GD, so I didn’t give a fucking fuck about the fucking fuckers, and there were many awesome performances by many awesome bands. Not so luckily for me, various nefarious circumstances led to me puking my guts out in the bushes (but still rockin’ out!) for a good portion of it. There was quite the scene going on in those bushes, let me tell you. I’ve never had such a good time while periodically pausing to puke.

Then there was the ride home and the rest of the night, but that’s a longer, less pleasant story.

They’re still sticking with their story that they’re a punk band? Okay.

And the award for the mouseover with no content and only an url goes to…WordMan! {A cheer goes up from the crowd!}

This is important business. We need to know if they were cut short or not. I need to know if I should be outraged or not. Does Billie-Joe really have a substance abuse issue or not? I need to know if I should pray for him or not.

Man, just another fucking example of the Man keeping the punk kids down.

Edit: And that onion article is hilarious. Fucking Sum-41.

I was getting cussed out from the stage by a stoned-out-of-his-gourd Billie Joe Armstrong way back in 1997. sigh Some things just never change.

Oh shoot, sorry about that.

Wow, a media-covered rock meltdown the day before that band’s new album comes out. Could there be a connection???
