My 13 year old daughter is playing the Wicked Witch in the school performance of The Wizard of Oz. I thought it would be very cute to present her with a bouquet of green flowers. Are there any green flowers? Can you turn any white flowers green with food coloring, and if so, how?
I meant to say, easily obtainable green flowers. Googling shows some unusual and seeming unobtainable flowers, at least in February.
White daisies or white carnations, left in a vase of tap water with green food dye added. The fresher the flowers, the stronger the green effect.
Cute idea, btw!
Bells of Ireland are some commonly available green flowers.
When is she doing it? Around St. Paddy’s Day, I find carnations tinted green in the grocery store, for 50 cents each.
I use a lot of green flowers in both my landscaping clients and my floral clients. Unfortunately “easily available” limits you. YOu might find some chrysanthemums in addition to the bells of ireland mentioned. Other than that, you’re gonna have to look further afield. Specially in January.
There’s always broccoli . . .
Check with your florist. I bet they have green spray you could put on some daisies or something.

With a strong solution of food coloring, the flowers will turn very green.
