Can anyone enlighten me as to why green lights show from the minarets of the mosques?

This web page Green Light seems to be saying that the green light indicates that the building is a Mosque. I looked at the Wiki page for Mosques and did not see it mentioned, but I admit I skimmed the article.
Just one of those things. A mosque can have green, blue, red or no lights and still be a mosque. I suppose it helps identify the building’s purpose.
The Saudi Arabian flag " is green because green is the traditional color of Islam".
So are the flags of Lybia, ,Pakistan (and Islamic terrorist groups like Hamas and Hizbollah )
Plus green is a pretty color, especially for people who live in a place with little natural vegetation.

Like Indonesia.
Seriously though, given what chappachula said, I wonder if there is some connection like that - Islam as an oasis - in green being the traditional color of Islam. Sorry for the hijack, but does anyone know anything about that?

Indonesia’s flag is not green.
Wikipedia blurb:
Many flags of the Islamic world are green, as the color is considered sacred in Islam.[44]
Other countries use flags for reasons of heraldry, or to represent lush national vegetation. In heraldry, green is called vert (French for “green”). Fourteenth century documents describe vert as a symbol of “jolliness and youth, but also of beauty and shame” as well as of death. Vert is used for the flags of Wales and Hungary, and is the basis for the Brazilian flag as well.[45][46] Other countries using green in their flags use it to represent their country’s lush vegetation, as in the flag of Jamaica,[47] and hope in the future, as in the flag of Nigeria.[48]
Green is a symbol of Ireland, which is often referred to as the “Emerald Isle”. The color is particularly identified with the republican and nationalist traditions in modern times. It is used this way on the flag of the Republic of Ireland, in balance with white and the Protestant orange.[49] Green is a strong trend in the Irish holiday St. Patrick’s Day.[50]
Green is considered the traditional color of Islam, likewise because of its association with nature. This is for several reasons. First, Muhammad is reliably quoted in a hadith as saying that “water, greenery, and a beautiful face” were three universally good things.[51] In the Qur’an, sura Al-Insan, believers in God in Paradise wear fine green silk.[3][52] Also, Al-Khidr (“The Green One”), is a Qur’anic figure who met and traveled with Moses.[53] The flag of Hamas,[54] as well as the flag of Iran, is green, symbolizing their Islamist ideology.[55]
Nothing to do with the OP, though.
Paul in Saudi presumably knows what he’s talking about.
… to differentiate them from bordellos?
