Green Tobasco or Red Tobasco?

It’s all a mater of taste, but I keep a bottle of the green around just for the occasional batch of nachos.
I don’t want hot so much as I want spicey.

I used to use a green jalapeno sauce from Trappey’s but haven’t seen it for a while.

Tabasco!!! My favorite spice!

I use a bottle of the red every month. I like the flavor of the green, but it is not hot enough. I keep trying to find the habenero, but can only mail order it, and it costs more in shipping as the whole bottle does! :frowning:

We bond, we bond. Have you resorted to the Peter Jennings method? He’s another Tabasco freak who carries his own bottle w/ him. I often have one of the little bottles of red in my purse, just in case I come across something edible.

MMMMMMMMM

Potato pancakes with Green Tobasco and sour cream.

I definitely prefer the Green variety. It has a more full-bodied flavor. The red just tastes like vinegar with heat- no real flavor. The Habenero rocks.

BTW, the ultimate hot sauce it Gecko Gary’s habenero sauce. Hot enough to keep us chili heads happy, but not so hot it kills the flavor.

I also like Hellbenero sauce, which is basically distilled essence of habeneros, but I don’t know where to get my hands on it. Once I was over at a friend’s house for tacos, and his roommate had Hellbenero. I put just a couple of drops on my taco, and I was in Chili-head Heaven. We’re talking consciousness-alteringly hot. My friend, who liked a little spice, but was definitely not a chili-head, said, “I’m sorry, I just can’t see equating food with pain.” His roomate called out from the next room, “Try equating food with medicine.”

Does anybody know the name of the company that makes Hellbenero, and if they have a website, and how to get the ~ over my n’s when I’m typing Habenero?

I love the Tabasco. I use it (and Sirracha sauce) on just about everything. I would actually eat paper or wood if it had Tabasco on it. I like the red, but have any of you tried the garlic flavored? I use a bottle in about 1.5 weeks. It’s great because it’s a bit thicker and stays where you shake it. Damn! I’m sweating just thinking about it!!

Peter Jennings??? Are you insane? I was already raked over the coals once for a perceived “slander” I did on him . I don’t need any more of his Posse following me around the Board screaming “Hate Crime!”

[sub]And yes, I sometimes carry my own bottle.[/sub]

Yeouch! Sorry, Anthracite! Somehow I missed that one; probably off in a fugue state again. Didn’t mean to ressurect old, bad memories. (Scary; my timing is so uncannily bad it even scares me sometimes.)

But hey, at least we both got to admit we carry our own bottles!

I’ll slink off now, probably running into the doorjamb on the way out.

Yipe. I was being facetious in my post, and apparantly my explanation of my intent in the other thread was sufficient, since I haven’t been accosted yet by a gang of perfect-haired, London Fog-wearing Canadian bad boys trying to pummel me to death with microphones…heh.

Uhh…oh yeah. I love Tabasco!

BTW - has anyone else ever had a Cajun Mary? It’s a Bloody Mary that uses Hot & Spicy V8 or Snap-E-Tom, with a tablespoon of Tabasco for a kick. Yum!

Yup. Used to make 'em with Snap-E-Tom all the time when I was practicing to be an alcoholic. Very tastey. But I flunked the final and had to quit.
