I read this, and I thought–sorry, Alessan–wow, that’s how I feel about the State of Israel! Or, really, the USA.
Anyone else feel like there’s a point at which the authorities have become too immoral for you to care what happens to them?
I may like the people who make up the state, & yet find the government & military abhorrent in practice.
Once you’ve decided that it doesn’t count as hostilities if you’re using flying death machines instead of putting your own men in harm’s way, you’ve clearly lost sight of absolutes.
I don’t especially object to the USA getting involved in Libya & I find it strange that Congress has decided this is the bridge too far. But how many other countries are we sending drones into?
I don’t like looking at my country & thinking a comparison to Palpatine’s empire is justified.
I still like Greg House. Someone can do foolish things & still be loved.
And governments still serve some good purposes. And the peoples of those nations have needs.
But I don’t think Israel will get off the road to a horrifying war of extermination, & I don’t think the USA is getting better instead of worse either.
Even in a great show such as House, I don’t expect there to be as much depth such as Alessan thinks there was. I think the writers simply said to each other “What crazy thing can we have House do this season?” and decided to crash the car into Cuddy’s house. I wouldn’t be surprised if they actually forgot she has a kid, and I’m pretty certain there wouldn’t be a mention of it next season
The whole thing is about House and Cuddy, everyone else is just spectators. When the writers wrote House to do that, I’m certain they simply felt that there needed to be a bang for the season to go out on. The guy was simply the catalyst House needed to perform his action. The car was the vehicle in which the action was performed, and the house was the target (not Cuddy, House had no plans to kill anyone)
The guy’s got a drug problem and is erratic and know for doing crazy things. He won’t be made to face the fact that it was attempted murder. At the worst, he gets fired or placed into another mental hospital, not jail. House in jail is not going to be fun to watch, so they won’t do it (or he’ll be in jail for 1 episode but get bailed out or something)
