Greg Lake R.I.P

This tragic year claims another one: only nine months after Keith Emerson’s untimely death, we have lost Greg Lake as well. Early ELP was a huge influence on my own musical development; this is a really hard loss. Rest in peace, Greg.

Sad to hear this. I was a big ELP fan in the 70s.

Yeah, lined up a bunch of ELP, King Crimson, and Asia songs on my PC for a little memorial.

At least this god forsaken year is almost over.

Emerson Lake & Palmer died in order?

R.I.P. Greg. I still believe in Father Christmas.

If I were Palmer, I’d be a bit nervous right now.

FFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU…

Cancer? Didn’t even know he had it. Although frankly, I’m surprised that atherosclerosis didn’t kill him first.

Not yet, but it does seem inevitable.

Anyway, the other "P"of ELP–Cozy Powell–preceded them all.

They sent the new guy to do recon.

It just occurred to me that their Emerson, Lake & Powell album – one of my favorites, despite popular opinion – may be the first album in my collection of which ALL the performers are now deceased. :frowning:

Confusion will be my epitaph
As I cross a cracked and broken path
If we make it, we can all sit back and laugh…

RIP, Greg. Thanks for the amazing music.

Fanfare for a Most Uncommon Man.

RIP

The shittiest year for music just got shittier.

Ha! This was my tribute when Emerson passed.

Lake wrote little masterpieces for ELP: “From the Beginning,” “Lucky Man.” He balanced out Emerson, who too often went over the top and then took off from there. A group based solely on Emerson would have been unbearable. ELP was equals in a rare sense.

But this forcefully rams home the ultimate question: how the hell are Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young all still alive?

Just awful news. At least this wasn’t a suicide.

Got any Ramones albums? They beat ELP by a few years.

Not to mention the Jimi Hendrix Experience.
