Winnipeg Blue Bombers v Toronto Argos
The fabled rivals of the Riders, versus the Central Canadians.
How can I possibly watch the game? I don’t want either to win!
Weather looks good. Forecast is between -2 and -10 C, with no snow.
Decisions, decisions.

(We didn’t get tickets. Mrs P, the football expert, said back in July: “The Riders aren’t going to make it.” The head coach concurred back in September, talking to the media: “Truth is, they just aren’t very good.”)
The Bombers are trying for the first 3-peat since the late 70s/ early 80s Edmonton teams. That is tough to do and I wish them luck. If the Argos win there will probably be some excited people in Toronto, but not many I think
Watching the game on tv and the Cub wandered in.
“Who’s playing?” he asked.
“The two evil empires”, I replied.
“Why are they evil?”
“Toronto is from central Canada”, I said. “We’re in the West.”
“Oh. and Winnipeg?”
“They’re Winnipeg, and we’re Saskatchewan.”
“But why are they an evil empire?”
“Because they’re Winnipeg.”
“You’re not giving me an explanation. You’re just repeating the same thing over and over.”
“I appreciate it may seem tautological, but in Saskatchewan, this is an axiomatic statement.”
{Lengthy discussion of logical terminology followed.}
Bombers just got a 102 yard punt return for a TD.
And then missed the point after.
Blue Evil Empire 23 v Blue Evil Empire 14
I had forgotten the game was tonight – I just found it on ESPN2 here in the States.
I’m mildly an Argos fan, having attended a game of theirs a decade ago, but this seems to be going Winnipeg’s way.
Argos just got a pick on the Wpg 22 yard line.
And they sent in Kelly as QB. Two first downs in a row.
ARgos just returned a punt for to their 30 yard
ARgos challenging defensive pass interference on the 1 yard line.
And Argos Banks just mouthed off to an official and got a 10 yard penalty.
ARgos score!
Blue Evil Empire 23, v Blue Evil Empire 23, with under 4 minutes left.
And point after is good.
That was a helluva scramble by Kelly on 2nd-and-15.
And here come the Mounties carrying the Cup to the field.
And he’s the back-up. Bethel-Thompson was out with a hand injury for most of the 4th.
Pick by the Argos! on Wpg 45 yard line.
I just ran upstairs to put on my Argos baseball cap.
Argos field goal unit coming out.
Blocked! WPG recovers the ball!
And sack him on the 3rd down, but a facemask - automatic 1st down for Wpg.
Wpg field goal attempt; blocked!
Caught by ARgos, with a no-yards call against Wpg for 5 yards.
ARgos take a knee on 1st down; 20 second s left; and a knee!

Cup is going back to the Centre of the Universe.
