I cried a few times. Poor baby Izzy. And the guy who was told his wife was dead while in isolation! OMG how sad is that? Poor baby Bailey. And I sure got choked up when stoic Cristina sobbed in Burke’s arms. “Don’t ever die!”
What I liked about this episode was the flashbacks. We got to see what happened the night before everyone’s first day of work, the night Derek walked in on Addison and Mark, Mere riding the merry-go-round ('cause I can never spell carousel) as a child when Richard broke up with Ellis.
And that was very thoughtful of Addison to wash Meredith’s panties.
What is up with Bailey? She was not acting herself and didn’t get a flashback. Did something happen to her baby or husband? She kept saying that she wished she could turn back time?
I was watching but getting the kids ready for bed so I may have missed a major detail.
I am so ready to kick Meredith in the head. The flashback did make me feel a bit more sympathetic to her, though.
This was the softer side of our Dr. Bailey. It was really only the day after the prom and when Denny died, so I’m sure she was effected by that. So, when Omar was locked inside the room, it really hit home for her that there was nothing she could do as a doctor to fix things (Denny, Mrs. Omar, etc). I think it just all caught up with her right there.
In some sense it contradicted what Addison said to him last season, about how he found them in bed and was very calm about it (as a contrast to how upset he is losing Meredith). Him throwing her clothes out and then feeling physically sick wasn’t real calm!
But I liked how he acted blase about the potential of dying but then is affected enough to actually tell Meredith how he feels, and that he had made the wrong choice in going back to Addison. Good for George for not caving and being too hasty in saying he loves Callie. Good for him for being honest. Besides, he has yet to find out she used to be a biological male, not that that should change things.
I guess I didn’t expect Bailey to be that affected. I knew she liked Denny and was close to him as a patient, but I thought she distanced herself more. I thought she saved her softer side for her fam.
Thanks all.
That’s probably the answer - it makes sense.
But really, after those interviews, if I was the Chief none of them wouuld be allowed near patients again. Except maybe Alex. As for the rest, the show would now be following their careers as pharmacists, med textbook copy editors, and Army doctors in the field, not as surgical interns in a big Seattle hospital.
At this point, I think Derek and Meredith (him particularly, though she’s not exactly innocent) have earned anything Addison dishes out. Besides, I thought Mark (aka McSteamy, and he’s certainly a man who deserves that appellation) was coming back this season. Meredith needs to dump the loser veterinarian and get with Mark. This whole Meredith-Derek thing was an entertaining story arc, but it’s time to put it to bed. You can’t stretch one romantic interest out for five seasons. Well, you probably could, but it would get really freakin’ old by the end of it.
But Excalibre remeber what Meredith told Mark at Joe’s bar? “Derek’s not the kind of guy you leave if you can help it.” I believe that we’ll be seeing the last of the Vet in the next couple of episodes, and that Addison will find someone else to occupy her time in Seattle.
I just hope Meredith doesn’t call both the Vet and Derek together just to dump one of them.
I hold Meredith in a little bit less contempt than I do Derek, because while she might be a wannabe homewrecker, it’s not her vows she’s violating. On the other hand, it’s not that hard not to have sex with someone. Really. I’ve probably spent the majority of my waking hours during my lifetime not having sex with anyone. And Derek, I have zero sympathy for. He actually had a chance to do things honorably, and he chose Addison over Meredith. Now he’s changed his mind. In six months, he’ll probably change it again. Did he used to snack on paint chips or something? Christ, what a flighty little manchild he is.
But the Ross and Rachel thing remained so entertaining!
In the previews for next week where some guy is leaning in to kiss Meredith and it looked like it might have been neither of the contendahs.
Seriously. The preview killed me where she says, if I can’t decide by the end of the night, I’m flipping a coin. A girl can’t hold out forever.
The first episode I ever watched of GA was the big-boom one. Little did I know at that time that the show would have been SOO much better if Meredith had been red-misted.
She’s by far my least liked character on the show, and that includes Alex. She’s annoying as hell. And she has mouse-face.
