Grey's Anatomy season 7 (2010) (open spoilers!)

Seems like this show is more of a ‘make an entire season’ thread kind of show here on the Dope.

WTF is up with Christina this season? All I do is want to smack her in the face. I like the base of her storyline (still traumatized from the shooting), but the execution is horrible. All she does is pout and avoid work. Last night we FINALLY got somewhere with her quitting and revealing to Meredith that she’s angry at her. It’s been dragging on way too long with her just doing nothing.

And Katherine Heigl used to complain about her storylines? If I was Sandra Oh I’d be having a fit.

I think at least half of Arizona’s reason to break up with Callie is still the baby thing and second thoughts about commitment. I was wondering what was going to happen to the apartment though - if Owen and Christina would go ‘damnit, why did we just buy a place?!’ or if little Grey would move in to get out of Meredith’s.

Still waving my little Mark and Lexie flag. Liking Keppner more and more as she becomes more than just the chick with a crush on Derek.

Patrick Dempsey should have exited stage right a couple of seasons ago. It’s like he does rom coms on his off time from the show but never takes the risk he needs to to become a Hollywood leading man which I think he has the potential to do.

I’m shielding my eyes from your OP, but I’ll be back as soon as I watch this week’s ep.

It’s nice to know I’m not the only sucker left on the boards that watches. I’ve sworn a few times that I was done, but I keep watching.

Do you also watch Private Practice? That’s a train wreck, too. Still, I watch.

I still watch. I saw part oh Grey’s last night so I need to hulu it and the last few episodes. I am also sooo over the Christina story line.

I also still watch Private Practice. Train wreck doesn’t even begin to describe last night. That was freaking brutal.

No, I never got attached to any of the cast. I only watch PP if it’s a crossover episode. And I’m still mad about Addison and Derek, because I liked them together.

Mary is the one patient I really liked. I even said I’d be happy if they had her back. And then they did! To kill her :frowning: assholes.

Okay, so I’m caught up. And I may finally be over it. The writing is so inconsistent.

I’m disappointed with what they’ve done with Bailey, and the Chief, and well, everyone. Owen was irreparably damaged, until we decided to wreck Christina so now he’s fine. All better.

I was never on board with Callie and Arizona. I like both actresses, and even both characters and never bought them as a couple. Will there be a Callie and Mark friends with benefits “hey we blew it with the real people, lets just marry eachother” story?

Do any of you work in hospitals? It is possible for people who work in hospitals to date anyone who does not work in that hospital. At least on daytime soaps there’s a hospital AND a business venture of some sort so doctors and nurses can date vice presidents and newspaper reporters, or cops.

The Christina need Meredith/Christina hates Meredith back and forth is iritating.

The Avery scenes last night (the trauma test) were just irritating. But, BUT…lines like “No. We’re in Apocalypse Now and he’s gonna scalp them.” are what keep me around. Season one had a LOT more clever lines like that, and there’s part of me that’s hoped against hope that we’ll return to that, but dead Denny, and sad Christina, and too many other story lines to list have knocked the hope out of me.

And they’re being so heavy handed with the Alzheimer’s message that I’m pretty sure that once they decide which season is the last - that Meredith will simultaneously be diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s and become pregnant (hostile uterus notwithstanding).

What’s the Chief’s current marital status? Is Adelle all the way gone?
Private Practice for me is mainly about ogling Taye Diggs and Tim Daly, and mocking Addison’s shoes. I mean, really. On Grey’s, Addison was strong and confident. Now she seems weak and perpetually wounded. I really enjoyed Kate Walsh when she was on The Drew Carey Show, but on PP I find the duck face she makes whenever she has to delilver a line with any emotion behind it (regardless of what the emotion is) distracting. I don’t know if her forehead is filled with injectables, or she holds her face that way to prevent wrinkles.

I don’t see how this storyline with Charlotte is great for the show. Did some focus group say the show wasn’t edgy or violent enough? Uggh? I’ll be interested to see how Sheldon reacts if he gets back to questioning the guy and realizes what’s happened. He was falling for Charlotte before she and Cooper got back together. And there again, I suspect there will be a tiny shining gem of beautiful acting that cuts through the “Is Amelia just staying now? Who wears those shoes to do surgery? What happened to Whatshisname the doctor from upstairs with the ALS treatment who’s in love with Naomi?” nonsense. So I’ll keep watching.

I don’t know a lot about how hospitals and doctors work, but isn’t being Chief of Staff at a hospital in a major city a pretty full time job? How does Charlotte then have time for her sexology practice at Oceanside?

I’m glad to see I’m not the only sucker, er, watcher left. I don’t know why I watch these two shows, as I dislike almost every character on both of them, but I do.

I hate what they’ve done with Richard Webber this season; he’s just become a total corporate suit. He looked like a complete buffoon on the “Seattle Medical” pseudo-reality show.

I’m not seeing the Christina story-line as being anything other than contrived; Hunt had PSTD, so now Yang has to have it. She’s the last person I’d pick to actually react this way; surgery was her life, and she was always pretty cold-blooded about the risks involved. A person who is so afraid of risk doesn’t go into cardio, where the death rate is so high as a matter of course.

I’m sorry to see the break-up of Callie and Arizona, and they seemed to be the most stable couple there. That said, I thought it was outrageous that Callie was presented sympathetically while pushing a person who doesn’t want children into agreeing to have them. You don’t push someone who doesn’t want kids into having them; it’s crap for the person and crap for the resulting children.

I like the development of Kepner, although I’m not all that sure I find it plausible. But next week apparently she’s going to sleep with Karev or come close to it, and that sucks. But then, I find Alex to be a unattractive, first-rate prick, so I tend not to enjoy the story lines involving him.

The relationship between Sloan and little Grey just seems to be in limbo, and I don’t get it.

Also, it’s one thing to truly want a bigger ass, but seriously? The ass that girl got is going to have just as much trouble finding jeans to fit as the one she replaced. She needed to be talked down to a size that they actually manufacture clothing to fit.

I LOATHE Private Practice (though I’ll watch the occasional episode out of sheer laziness, and to get my hate on!). I liked Kate Walsh on GA but since I hate PP so much, all I see is her stunned-cow reaction to all that distasteful idiocy.

I’m enjoying Grey’s Anatomy quite a lot this season. Christina is going to have her “hey, I can do my job again” lightbulb moment any minute now, I just know it!.. Did Meredith have an actual scientific test for the Alzheimer’s gene? Last I heard, she and Derek were just going to “live their lives” and maybe have a baby without worrying. Now he wants her to go through a clinical trial of some kind?..Last, I love Bailey more than ever. She is awesome. I love her to death.

Oh, that was another thing that bugged me. Meredith and Derek are just going to live their lives and let whatever happens happen. Great. This means the likelihood of repeated miscarriages for Meredith, not even getting into the issue of whether or not it’s right to risk passing on the Alzheimer’s gene.

Private Practice reminds me of all the worst characteristics of thirtysomething.

My wife and I still watch both medical dramas. With PP, we try to guess which storyline will provide the moral debate scene before they get there. It usually isn’t a challenge but that’s all the show has to offer for me (that and dreams of Kate Walsh).

We watch Grey’s Anatomy but not PP. My husband is a resident at a hospital so I tease him a lot about “this is what it’s like for you at work every day, right?” and so on.

I’m so sick of Yang’s PTSD sniveling… but having her quit? She’s not leaving the show, I’m assuming, right?

Overall the show makes me roll my eyes a LOT but I keep TiVoing it anyway. I started watching because my husband watched… I doubt I’d have started watching on my own.

Okay, I’m going to throw a wacky theory out here.

Time skip!

Spoiler box for reasons since most of them are based off the gossip sites and I’m too lazy to dig up the cites:

Arizona isn’t leaving the show. Her actress is on mat leave and presumably returning to the show this season. Time skip allows her to return from Africa.

Christina isn’t leaving the show. Time skip lets her find a new profession without all the annoying crap in between. Something that allows her to be in the hospital with everyone but not a surgeon. She said she loves surgery but doesn’t want to be a surgeon. Lecturer? Autopsy person?

The TV Guide spoiler reporter has a thing going on where there were 9 couples and one was getting engaged. She just eliminated Mark and Lexie, but it’s been hinted there’s going to be a wedding, but not Derek and Meredith. Lemme see…Mark and Lexie could skip an engagement but I doubt it. Upthread it was mentioned Keppner might sleep with Karev. Shonda Rhimes says there’s going to be closure to the Alex/Izzie storyline - Alex getting married again could be closure. Or Arizona could come back and get back together with Callie and get married.

I watched Sandra Oh on a British show, **Thorne ** I wonder if she is leaving the GA?

The British show was filmed during the off-season hiatus from Grey’s Anatomy. I very much doubt she’ll be quitting the latter.

Did PP ever explain why the jerky guy in the wheelchair isn’t around this year? Or are we just supposed to assume that because Dr. McBiceps chose Bill Buchanan over him he left the practice?

Well, he is/was attached to Naomi’s character. When’s the last time we saw her? According to IMDB she was in the last two episodes, but was she? I didn’t notice her in either.

I didn’t see her in the last one, but the week before (I think) she strolled through one scene, mentioned “foundation business” and that was it. I don’t understand merging the two practices if they were getting rid of half the characters anyway.

No, but she at least was around earlier in the season and then they explained her absence as off doing stuff money related abroad.

Let me be the first to use the word:
McBiscuit.

I must say it was nice to see Alex get beaten up. And I like Callie’s hair.

But McBiscuit as a credit stealer? Does not compute. And I really, really wanted a nose whistle out of him.
