Grinch and Cat in the Hat

Last night while channel surfing I saw a Grinch vs. Cat in the Hat tv show. I think it was a one off special trying to capitolize on the success of both the Cat in the hat and Grich stole Christmas cartoons. It looked like it was made around the same time but with much less money. My god was it bad. Did anyone else see it?

“The Grinch Grinches the Cat in the Hat” is the title. No, I haven’t seen it.

I’m pretty sure my kids have that on DVD, thanks to my mother-in-law.

We also have the Lorax, which I thought I remembered seeing was getting ready for the live-action treatment in the near future. It’s environmentalism to the max. I wonder if Hayao Miyazaki is going to be involved…

I tried watching it once, but it was awful.

Seuss was hard to dramatize; the only really successful versions of his work was Chuck Jones’s Grinch and Robert McKimson’s version of Horton Hatches the Egg. In both cases the stuck very closely to the original (easier to do in a short film).
