Grocery product placement

They often show canned US Senate bean soup, not listed today, however-

Nope, it’s true.

Not everyone knows that butter is made out of milk.

I suspect that everyone who has a dangerous allergy to milk knows that butter is made from milk.

Happens to me with certain types of spice mixes - where is the taco seasoning or the fish and chips batter mix? Sometimes it’s with the spices, sometimes it’s near the meat or fish.

Since we still need to warn people not to take medicine they are allergic to I don’t think a simple ‘contains milk’ statement on the label will help anyway. It needs to say ‘don’t eat butter if you are allergic to milk, or are allergic to butter, or consume butter in any combination with any other food or medicine you are allergic to’.

Not really relevant. The law says that it has to be a certain way and the label violates the law, ineffective as it may be. The label on the eggs salad at my grocery store says “contains eggs”.

Of course. That’s why it’s a story. There wasn’t anything wrong with the butter, just the label. I believe they could have relabeled it though that might be impractical. The labeling laws don’t really care though, the product as sold had to be taken off the shelves and returned to the producer just as if it was tainted in some way and dangerous for anyone to eat.

‘I can’t believe it’s not not butter.’

:grinning: plus characters.

I’m fairly familiar with grocery placement in stores since I do about half of our grocery shopping.

But anytime I go to a new (to me) grocery store with a certain item on my list, I have to ask an employee where to find it. What is it, you ask? Toothpicks. I’ve never found them on my own.

Challenge accepted

It’s probably a “me” problem. Good luck!

I think the last time I bought toothpicks was 30 years ago.

We buy toothpicks somewhat regularly. I believe they are next to the cake decorating stuff. (In my supermarket.)

Last time I bought them, they were with the cooking supplies (measuring cups and spoons, spatulas, etc.)

I was grocery shopping tonight so checked a couple of places I thought it my be. The closest I got was a zip strip with toothpicks in a container. Not what you’re going to buy if you’re just stocking up.

Glad I found some recently… somewhere.

How often do you serve cocktail wienies?

Dollar store has whole shelves of toothpicks. You know there are multiple kinds?

Now, the corn picker upper things? If it’s not BBQ season?
You have to send away for them.
I found it easier to get out the pickle forks that have never been used by one soul in the ??? years this silver ware has been on this earth. Never.
Who needs corn picker upper things?

Never. But my husband brings a cut up pineapple to a dance almost every week, and he stabs the pieces of pineapple with cheap wooden toothpicks so people can eat them.

Ah, sounds good. I almost never use toothpicks anymore except for flat ones in gluing projects.
