Ground Chicken

When I go to stores I can find Ground Beef, Pork and even Turkey, why doesn’t anyone offer ground chicken to the mass market?

Chickens can’t fly- they’re all ground chickens!

They do. We had some for dinner last night; Banquet Southern Breast Tenders. It’s ground, breaded, cooked and frozen, so you can have McNuggets at home. But I have to wonder why you would want ground chicken. Do you want to make chickenburgers?

Here in California we have it, by Foster Farms. But not a lot of it. Probably because chickens are small and it’s a hassle to process them.

Curious. I’ve never seen it im my supermarket as well, although I never really was looking for it. I didn’t know there was such a thing, actually.

So I did a web search for “ground chicken.” I found all kinds of recipes and distributors for ground chicken. Hmm . .

My gut feeling is that there isn’t much demand. I bet if you ask your friendly meat counter person, they’d be happy to grind some up for you.

I think you can also use it to make chicken tacos…

When I HAD a butcher (grumble, bitch, gripe) he had ground chicken available, but always frozen.

So why do butchers (and even supermarket meat sections) keep unfrozen ground turkey on hand, but not unfrozen ground chicken?

Chickenburgers ain’t bad, y’know. Just lay off the ketchup and stick with lettuce, tomato, and mayo.

Maybe chickens aren’t very ductile.

I’ve seen it around many grocery stores, usually frozen. Sometimes they put it in somewhat obscure spots in the freezer, though. Maybe you just missed it?
