Well, he’s probably right. St. Nicholas would, I’d imagine, be upset by modern Christianity and modern society.
Poly, how is it that you read the WORLD magazine site, anyway? That’s more my style of right-wing C’nity (I’ve subbed to WORLD for years because the late Rev. David Chilton was a columnist).
I do hope you realize that Veith was being amuzingly facetious, and still made a darn good point. I’ve maintained for a few years that JWs dislike C’mas since Santa punched their main Church father. While none of us the severity of St Nick’s blow to Arius, I totally think a symbolic love-tap to heretics & PC-extremists is quite fitting- and also to the outrage-merchants who make us right-wing C’tians look like complete jerks (Bill Donohue, Pat Robertson, Bill O’Reilly & Jerry Falwell, please call your offices…)
And just to be authentic he should speak to the kids only in 3rd century Byzantine Greek and burn any books that mention a differing opinion of the divine nature (sorry Anne Rice, but that Christmas release Out of Egypt has gotta burn now).
