Sadly, I find the “Ballbreakers” commercials to be much less annoying than the “2005 World Series of Poker” commercials that ESPN keeps playing every 25 seconds during SportsCenter. Is it so much to ask that SportsCenter shows the sports scores? Sigh.
Anyway … may I just say that I am glad that Lenny and Karyn are gone? Well, OK, Karyn – Lenny seemed aiight. She? Was a total toxic harpy. I understand that she was DIS-appointed and all, but to dump a guy right there on the mat, in front of Phil? That’s just wrong.
A REMINDER for TAR fans: There’s a historic episode on GSN tonight, you may have heard of it even if you’ve never seen it. So make sure you don’t miss tonight’s show.
Oh, and her voice! Her voice! Anyone who thought Gretchen from last season had the worst TAR voice had to have reconsidered that opinion after listening to Karyn. Toxic harpy…I like that. (Band name!)
Absolutely agreed. And, actually, I thought both Victoria from TAR6 and Deana from TAR7 were pretty bad – although, for different reasons. For sheer nails-on-the-chalkboard agony, though, Karyn is going to be tough to beat.
Having not seen TAR until “The Season of the Broken Ox” (TAR5), I have to say that the Guidos are not nearly as bad as they have been made out to be. I wonder if that’s because I’m seeing the seasons out of order. I mean, they aren’t exactly playing nice, but they’re not nearly as horrible as I expected. Is that because I also watch Survivor, and therefore know from ugliness? Or what?
That may be. It’s like your scale for evaluating hideous behavior has been completely recalibrated by Survivor or something. I don’t watch Survivor, so I’m naive enough to be shocked and saddened by someone playing unfair even though I remind myself, “Duh, there’s a million dollars on the line here.”
My cable company only carries the Game Show Network on its “variety tier” of its digital cable package. I had to update to digital from standard cable (no charge), add the variety tier ($9 a month, which I don’t mind too much since it gives me BBC America as well), and get a digital video recorder (about $13 a month, but I’d wanted to do that for a while anyway).
I am a devoted TAR fan, but I only started watching midway through season four. I’m loving seeing the old shows. I am in love with Kevin and Drew.
I’ve been having a blast reading the Miss Ali recaps, as I’m watching each episode. I let the show creep about 5 to 10 minutes ahead of the recap, and when I read something that I missed, I rewind and rewatch. I’ve caught things I would have otherwise missed.
