Gta Iv - Omfg!

Personally, I’m highly disappointed that they’ve eliminated fixed-wing aircraft. I realize that they weren’t very useful in San Andreas, as the maps were only populated minimally with obstacles and environments for the planes to traverse, but damn it, I liked zipping past skyscrapers in my stolen fighter jet.

I’m really hoping for another rocket pack. That thing was more fun that Kuribo’s Shoe in Super Mario 3.

ahaha that’s awesome.

Seriously. Sometimes it felt like I had to go on a freakin road trip just to get from one city to the next.

What are the odds this game will turn up on the PC eventually? All the others have so far. Saying that my PC is probably getting a bit past it for a game that is so very next gen, and I don’t play enough graphically intensive games to make it worth upgrading.

I suspect they probably will make a PC version. IIRC they held off saying there would be a PC version of GTA San Andreas, and the PC version of GTA III came out long after the PS2 version.

I’ll be off work for a month during June/July as I have back surgery scheduled and have to keep weight off my leg/back after. The only positive thing about the whole thing(apart from hopefully leaving me pain free) is that I’ll have lots of time to play this and explore everything.

There have been PC versions of all the previous games except the proprietary ones (Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories, which were PSP games IIRC). So I’d expect GTA4 to be along in about a year for PC, as it seems to take forever for them to port it. Maybe less time however, as the PS3 and XBox 360 basically are computers.

I’m looking forward to seeing the new police chases. Apparently there are no tanks in the game so what happens when you get 6 stars? Also, it seems to me like the police chases get harder in each game. GTAIII made it fun and easy to fight with the cops, even with 5 or 6 stars. Vice City was fun until you got to about 4 stars and seriously challenging once you got to 5. San Andreas is a bitch once you get to 3 stars and is pointless at 5. Now with GTAIV allowing civilians to call the cops on you when you start some shit, I imagine a 2 star chase is going to be a royal PITA.

The worst thing about the cop chases in previous GTA games is the cops just materialize out of thin air and there seems to be an infinite number, there really is no getting away from them. Hopefully IV will handle that better.

To throw a little damper on the party, I did read one review that said graphic pop-up still happens to some extent, and you can still turn around and then turn back, and you see different traffic. :frowning:

Very minor quibble, in my opinion. That’s like telling a supermodel that you’re about to sleep with that there’s a booger hanging out of her nose.

I was just hoping they’d fixed quirks like that, it ruins the immersion a bit.

To each their own, senor.

I guess I just don’t get the GTA thing. I played GTA III on the PC, but…eh, I really didn’t care much for it. I never tried San Andreas or Vice City; maybe I missed out on what exactly makes this series so popular by doing that.

I suppose maybe I’ll pick up GTA IV a few weeks after it’s released, but that’s mostly because there’s nothing else out on the 360 that I really really want for a few months and I’ll be in the employment gap between college and the start of my job. Maybe the reviews after it’s released will get me all excited for it.

What kind of games are you into?

I love em all, baby.

FPS, TPS, 4X, RTS, turn-based, sports, strategy of any sort, little flash games, MMO’s, 2D platformers, sim games, just about every genre has something I love. RPG’s are at the very top of my list, but just off the top of my head I can’t think of a particular type of game that I’d dismiss totally.

I didn’t mean to sound like I didn’t like GTA III (my only experience with the franchise), only that I think I liked it much less than most people. I’m just far less excited about IV than the rest of the gaming public apparently is. Honestly, thinking about The Force Unleashed, Alpha Protocol, Prototype, or Spore get me more jittery with excitement than GTA IV, even though they’re much farther away.

(I really don’t mean to threadshit here! I don’t have anything against the franchise, I promise. Hell, when I d buy it, I’ll probably be back in this forum singing its praises and smacking myself for waiting so long :stuck_out_tongue: )

What kind of games are you into?

Heh.
