Despite the obvious flaws, GTA features just the type of sandbox-ish gameplay that I really enjoy. After a long period of not playing I re-installed it last night, and in celebration I thought it would be neat to start a thread, since I haven’t found any recent GTA discussions.
As an excuse to start it, however, I had two somewhat technical questions that have been bugging the crap out of me:
First off, in the process of re-installing it I discovered that I actually own version 2.0, which would make sense considering I only purchased the game last year. Anyway, it’s my understanding that if I want to install any mods I’ll need to find a third-party patch to “downgrade” GTA 2.0 to GTA 1.0, and patch up to version 1.1 from there. What I’m wondering is, is there any benefit to this at all, other than enabling mods?
My second, and somewhat more pressing question, has to do with the graphics: I’m running the game on a really great PC, and I can turn all of the graphics up to their maximum setting without problems, but every. single. car features this annoying glitch in which the doors, windows, boot, and pretty much anything detachable is outlined in dark black. Turning anti-aliasing on mitigates this a bit, but I can’t seem to get rid of it entirely: has anybody had luck dealing with this?
