I agree Vin Diesel was good. I don’t know anything about his nerd cred and I’ve never seen The Iron Giant, so I’ll grant “appropriately cast”. I’m just saying in this movie he doesn’t deliver anything that’s got to be delivered by Vin Diesel.

You can’t really accuse them of tacking on a romance in this movie. They didn’t really do that.
[SPOILER]There’s some sexual tension- mostly one sided coming from Star-Lord who’s back story already explains he’s looking to make a conquest of any hottie. There’s a love that develops among the group as they transition from loners to a quirky family. Gamora who happens to like nice men develops feelings for Star-Lord as she comes to admire him having at first thought he was a scoundrel.
The early sexual tension and the later developed admiration, when thrown in the mix with the family love among the group, suggests that there may be some basis for a romance to develop in the future, maybe. But they never go full on romance at any point in this movie and there’s certainly no suggestion that Star-Lord and Gamora are a couple by the end of the movie.[/SPOILER]
