Actually, I rather like the idea that raccoons are an invasive alien species that some idiot brought to Earth on accident.
I watched this again on Blu-ray over the holidays, and thought I’d add the following:
There’s a deleted scene where the jerk Nova Corps guy tells the goofy Nova Corps guy that they’re sending the pre-guardians to the Kyln even though they haven’t been to trial yet because they’re all too dangerous and escape-prone to keep in a local jail. Goofy Nova Corps guy protests, but then they get distracted because one of his chest lights keeps going out. But at least it explained why they were at the Kyln.
The gag reel includes a scene where when Star Lord challenges Ronan to a dance off, Ronan accepts. The scene ends with entire cast, including extras, dancing.
And as of this past weekend, Guardians is still $9M ahead of Mockingjay as the number 1 movie of 2014. Mockingjay got a bit of a boost due to two holiday weekends, so they may keep it around long enough to put it over the top.
Not sure if anyone’s reading this thread anymore, but I have a question nagging at me (after about the 50th viewing on cable) that hopefully someone can answer:
In the scene at the Collector’s place, just as Carina is about to grab the Stone, she first yells, “I will no longer be your slave!” In the background, someone, one of the Collector’s “exhibits”, stands and starts hammering on the glass, apparently trying to warn her off. Who is it? I mean, nothing in a movie happens on accident, so it seems like it should have some significance, but I can’t find any reference to the scene or the character online. It doesn’t appear to be the Collector’s previous assistant. Can anyone help me out here?
Hilarious that you did this since I literally watched the movie last night.
Earlier in the movie, when we first get introduced to The Collector he is talking to Pinky the Slave Girl and telling her to work harder, because “you see what happened to the last one who didn’t” and there was a different Pinky the Slave Girl in the case behind her.
The one telling her not to touch the stone was the previous-but-now-captured Pinky
Like Sir said, but I think she was not warning her off so much as standing with her in defiance of the Collector.
But like I said, it doesn’t appear to be the previous assistant. When they show her, in the “elbows” scene, her hands are shackled, and the shackles she’s wearing appear to glow, as I recall. There’s no evidence of that on the “knocker”. The person does appear female, though.
I found the scene online, which will probably be removed when there’s a copyright complaint: here’s a link right to the relevant part of the scene.
