Guess my gender!

I always thought you were a snake, Lamia. I couldn’t figuure out how you used a keyboard.

You are a gay male. Gay people seem to think about gender like it is a decision rather than a fact.

I hunt and peck with the tip of my tail. Takes forever, but what can ya do when ya don’t got hands?

But the point is, I’m a girl snake/demon.

Was this referring to use of the Gender Genie? If so, I’d like to point out that the GG’s not perfect. It’s right 2/3 of the time, and I suspect has a bias towards declaring someone male (I’d have to check out the original paper to be sure though). I cracked it with an email from a friend of mine who was describing her travels in Indochina - it said she was male. Incidentally, she’s a mechanical engineer …

Fascinating thread, folks. TVAA - dankie for starting it! And to those who’ve mentioned the GG - it’s the first time I’ve heard of it.

No, it was to the attempts to track down my identity by Googling the email address I’d used to register on these boards.

As if I would use my actual email address… Although now everyone knows my surname, since a sibling was kind enough to allow me to use his for a time.

Oh really??? It’s not like we’re all hermaphrodites, you know. (Now what does this response tell you about my “choice” of gender?)

Anyway, about TVAA:

When you were a kid, they tried to dress you in pink, but you always felt more natural in blue. If you haven’t made the change physically, you certainly have in many other respects. Your self-perception is more male than female, and that’s what counts most.

I guess any posted chunk of text could have a machine as its prime mover, if there is such a thing.
Apart from that, ‘awareness’ has no gender/sex. And if you imagine your “self” as something else you surely will go far astray. (now there’s a tautology)

Hmm, inspired by MoronosaurusRex’s post, I inserted my previous post into a Gender Genie and it concluded that I’m female. :dubious:

Stoopid genie

I know for a fact that TVA is female.

Of course, as TVAA would be the first to tell us, just because something is a fact doesn’t necessarily mean it’s true…

Barry

I have decided that TVAA is obviously male based on his failure to recognize me as female. After all, Lamia and I are following the convention that names ending in A are female. TVAA is an exception to this rule:

  1. It is an acronym
  2. Aide ends in an e
  3. While the character may be female, only those who recognize the reference will know it.
  4. It’s science fiction, so (more) guys pay attention
  5. TVAA kind of wants to be taken as female
    a. picked a female character reference as name
    b. started this thread in a blatent attempt to get more recognition for the personality behind the posts
    c. Accused me of being a crazy man in the equal time for creationism thread
Hey, it’s as logical and better thought out than at least half the other responses in this thread.

Interesting note: I’ve observed that women more frequently notice and respond to implied criticism of their positions than men, at least on message boards The exception seems to be when the criticism is expressed in a “dry” manner; it is possible that the lack of emotional content misleads individuals who normally focus on it?

I, and all other individuals who were born with a gender/sex discongruity, would argue this point.

Male.

Just vanilla male. Not homosexual, transsexual, or transvestite.[sup]*[/sup]

If you were wondering, tests of my personality indicate a strong bias towards psychological androgyny. Which presumably explains my ability to say “please” and “thank you”, in addition to my knowing more than seven words for colors.

[/minor annoyance]

[sup]*Not that there’s anything wrong with that.[/sup]
