Guess the movie based on the unflattering description

Yippee kie ya motherfucker.

  1. A self-made millionaire is bad-mouthed by his former “friends” after he dies.
  1. An agricultural worker employs a criminal to engage in the destruction of a priceless government asset.

  2. A law enforcement officer must overcome a specific personal fear, and employ the assistance of two subject matter experts, to apprehend a killer that is terrorizing the community.

  3. An entrepreneurial group seeks fortune buried deep underneath the ground of Nevada.

  4. A woman en route to New York has but a few days to choose beween rival suitors.

  5. An erstwhile teacher is asked to accomplish a questionable task in France.

Citizen Kane

  1. The Jerry Sandusky Story

Independence Day

Note, though, IIRC, that Will Smith’s character was not a single dad. His girlfriend’s son was not his.

Did someone answer #1 and I missed it? If not, it’s Willy Wonka.

Fun thread. Just a suggestion, when you answer one, include the original clue, not just the number. The clues are (of course) so obscurely worded, that dummies like me don’t recall them when the answer is given. I am wasting valuable seconds scrolling back up to see what the answer answers.

I assumed, “15) A man considers giving up the family business, but his hand is forced after a rival firm attempts a hostile takeover” was…It’s a Wonderful Life, not The Godfather.

Star Wars (Episode IV)?

Oceans 11

Titanic

Not sure about your other two (22 and 25).

Here’s one:
26. A bungled kidnapping leads to over 1,000 city residents being killed as the kidnappers try to make their escape.

  1. An erstwhile teacher is asked to accomplish a questionable task in France.

Saving Private Ryan

Some new ones:

  1. A man whose romantic advances are rejected by a work colleagues attempts suicide.

  2. An orphan placed in the care of an older man tries to learn his trade, but botches up the first big job.

  3. A man travels to California to give a speech about his favourite novel.

  4. A woman gets cold feet days before her wedding, after an old ex shows up and acts like a jerk.

The Professional?

Is this:

Little Miss Sunshine?

I’m impressed, you got all mine except 22.

Try reading it and making sure you understand how many people are involved in apprehending the killer.

Jaws. My wife guessed this one.

  1. A relocated Midwesterner seeks help from the authorities after being stalked by a violent psychopath.

Wesley Clark got 28.

29 is not Little Miss Sunshine.

Also, 27 should be: “A man whose romantic advances are rejected by a work colleague attempts suicide.” (colleague not colleagues)

Very nicely done, Stratocaster’s Wife.

  1. A writer has an affair with a dishonest actress in one of his productions while attempting to win a wager.

  2. A family is repeatedly thwarted in their efforts to reach a promised land in California.

  3. An unwilling musician must play matchmaker while extricating himself from a tough situation.

  4. A local theatrical star is threatened by a new rival, but soon must come to their rescue when the new rival faces death.

I’m having a hard time with a lot of these, but I think I’ve got this one:

The Grapes of Wrath.

While that is sort of true, it’s not preisely accurate. I’m thinking of something a little more recent.
