Guess The Place Song Game.

**The rules? Vague: **Below are groups of lyrics that can be associated with a place. Name the place. For additional added bounus plus points and the respect and admiration of your peers, name the song and artist. Please replace clues as needed.

The payoff? Insignificant: It would make me happy to play this game with you. I need a little happy.

**The clues? Below: **[ol][li]A. Love was just a passing word.[/li]It’s a thought you had in a taxi cab that got left on the curb.

B. He’s cute in his mohair suit
And he keeps his pocket full of spending loot.

A. I spread my wings to greener pastures
I still ain’t found what I was after.

B. Key Largo, Montego
Baby why don’t we go?

A. Never had no problems
'Cause I always pay the rent.

B.Searching for something to say.

C. A pretty lady looked at me and said her diamond watch had stopped cold dead.

A. Everytime the ladies pass they be like, “Hey, Will.”
Can ya feel me? All ages and races.
Real sweet faces.

B. It’s the rhythm of the island
Like sugarcane, so sweet.[/ol]

I’ll give it a try.

Question 1 is New York City. B is from “Boy from New York City,” by Manhattan Transfer.

Question 2 is Kokomo. B is from “Kokomo,” by the Beach Boys.

Not sure of the others, but I hope I’ve managed to understand the vague rules.

2 is not Kokomo, exactly. The vague rules vaguely ask for more clues. That’s the real hard part!

Number 4’s location is Miami and the name of the song is, I think, Welcome to Miami by Will Smith.

Number 3 is Chicago. the band is Chicago and the lyrics are from the songs:

A. I’m a Man
B. 25 or 6 to 4
C. Does Anyone Really Know What Time it Is? (I think that’s the right title)
Replacing with:

A. Motel money murder madness

B. The cars crawl past all stuffed with eyes
(I hope I’m playing right)

Are these two clues for one location, or two clues for different places? They’re both from Doors songs, A from “L.A. Woman” and B from “Soul Kitchen.”

Here’s my contribution, two clues referring to the same place:

A. Two happy people on a Greyhound bus
We came here searching for a life for us

B. Walking on the beach last night and hoping things would be all right
But later lying on her bed, it’s you I saw instead

A. is from Summertime by Will Smith. Location is Philadelphia.

Oops, I think I’m wrong and JuanitaTech is right on that one.

Biggirl, get yer ass back in here and help us out!

All right, all right Juanita. I, um, was busy doing-- ah— things. Yeah, that’s it. Things.

A. Love was just a passing word.
It’s a thought you had in a taxi cab that got left on the curb.

B. He’s cute in his mohair suit
And he keeps his pocket full of spending loot.

The place is New York City. B is Boy from NYC.
A is another song about NYC-- if’n you wanna guess it.

A. I spread my wings to greener pastures
I still ain’t found what I was after.

B. Key Largo, Montego
Baby why don’t we go?

B is The Beach Boy’s Kokimo but–A will get you the more specific place I’m looking for.
A. Never had no problems
'Cause I always pay the rent.

B.Searching for something to say.

C. A pretty lady looked at me and said her diamond watch had stopped cold dead.
All gotten by the perfect vague clue guesser RX

A. Everytime the ladies pass they be like, “Hey, Will.”
Can ya feel me? All ages and races.
Real sweet faces.

B. It’s the rhythm of the island
Like sugarcane, so sweet.
Juanita knows her Will-- The city is Miami. The B song is Miami related. I’m suprised AI watchers haven’t guessed this one yet.
[/ol]

I can’t guess anybody else’s songs because I’m, uh, still doing that . . . thing.

B is Conga (or Do the Conga or something like that) by Gloria Estefan and the Miami Sound Machine.

I seem to recall an old movie about vaudevillians . . .

Is A Kokomo, Indiana?

Sorry, I have no further contribution for the game. Somebody else take my turn, please.

Correctamundo amarinth!

Yes, yes it is Kokimo, Indiana.
And if Juanita doesn’t guess why, I’m revoking her colored card.

San Francisco

A is “San Francisco Is a Lonely Town” - Glen Campbell
B is “Round N Round” - Chris Isaak

Here’s my replacement. All three lyrics are referencing the same place:
[li]Darlin’ while you’re busy burnin’ bridges [/li]Burn one for me if you get time
[li]She was workin’ at a diner just a week ago [/li]When a man from Colorado smiled and said hello
[li]Workin’ on the railroad[/li]Sleepin’ on the ground
Eatin’ saltine crackers
Ten cents a pound
Here’s an easy one:

A. Carry on my wayward son,
For there’ll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Now don’t you cry no more

B. I got credit down at the grocery store,
And my barber tells me jokes.

C. I might take a train,
I might take a plane,
But if I got to walk,
I’m goin’ just the same.

A is Carry On Wayward Son by Kansas.
C is Kansas City Here I Come by I Dun O’Who.

I’m drawing a blank on B.

And the place is Kansas. Yes?

Correct on the place, but B is from “San Francisco Days.” (On the same album as “Round ‘N’ Round.”)

“Kansas City” by Wilbert Harrison

B. is “Kansas City Star”, by Roger Miller

The song, Kansas City by Wilbert Harrison, refers to Kansas City, Missouri, not Kansas City, Kansas; in fact, most times when you hear about “Kansas City”, it refers to the Missouri town, not the Kansas one.
