Guess the Translated Movie Quotes

I did this on another message board a while back and folks had fun with it, so I thought I would let my esteemed and good-looking friends on SDMB have a shot at it.

I took some famous movie quotes from IMDB and ran them through the translator at Alta Vista (http://babelfish.altavista.com) several times as such:

English to French to English to Spanish to English to German to English to Italian To English

See if you can guess the multiply translated quotes and the movies they are from.

  1. I make the accessories it, than it cannot refuse.

  2. To ulteriorly obtain the relative ones puantes of the piedini to the ego, damne you the modified mallet to free fall!

  3. They are not splendid no goods with the relative one, but it does not take a lot, in order to consider that the three problems of the sprites increase not with one hill of the habas in this insanowelt.

  4. they try, to me to fascinate [proprt name], which are not you you?

  5. It only can have

I got a couple of them, sort of …

1 - Godfather - “I’ll make him an offer he can’t refuse”

2 - I have no idea

3 - Casablanca - The “don’t add up to a hill of beans” soliloquy

4 - No clue

5 - Less of a clue.

  1. If you build it, they will come.
  2. ?!
  3. Casablanca beans spiel
  4. ??!
  5. ??!!

#3 must be a Top Gun type movie, b/c a mallet in free fall has got to be some pilot/race car driver about to “drop the hammer.”

ummm…I mean #2.

  1. There can be only one ?

#4. Are you trying to seduce me, Mrs. Robinson?

Meanwhile, here are some easy ones, using the following algorythm: English to French, French to German, German to English.

1 - I will be from return

2 - Its or not its? It is the question

3 - Openly mine expensively I hardly worry myself

My translated sig - Attention: The cape does not permit to fly the user

  1. I’ll be baack
  2. To be or not to be, that is the question.
  3. Not a clue!

I love your translated .sig! Even better than the original.

My translated .sig: A day without the sun it happens like the night.

  1. Frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn.

How about this:

Each man dies, only the lives of not each man really.

Braveheart (1995)
William Wallace: Every man dies, not every man really lives.

I want the answers to the OP by 5pm EST.
This is not a request, it is an order.

Did we get any of them yet, Spider?

As Far as I can tell, #3 is certainly from Casablanca, and I’m pretty sure Reservoir Dog was on the money for #4 being from the Graduate, but I wanna know the rest! goddamnit. And once I leave work it’ll just bug me. I really hope Tretiak didn’t go anywhere.

Oh, whoops. I got caught up in the whole rigamarole. I didn’t even pay attention to who posted the OP. I just assumed it was you. You know what they say, “when you assume you make …”

I’m also pretty sure of #1 - Unrefusable Offer from GodFather.

Well looking at number 2 I keep getting a vague image of some hero holding something over an edge and the bad guy saying something to the effect of , "If you really want to have your family killed, then by all means drop the ???.

Just to reassure Spider, I will post the answers at 4:45 EST. But I want to give some more time.

Well here are your answers. You guys pretty much nailed them all except one.

  1. I’ll make him an offer he can’t refuse. - The Godfather (Whoo-hoo, Jack Batty!)

  2. Get your stinking paws off me, you damned dirty ape! - Planet of the Apes (Way to go, err, ummm…)

  3. I’m no good at being noble, but it doesn’t take much to see that the problems of three little people don’t amount to a hill of beans in this crazy world. - Casablanca (Jack Batty again!)

  4. You’re trying to seduce me Mrs. Robinson, aren’t you? - The Graduate (Right On ReservoirDog!)

  5. There can be only one - Highlander (Wolfman is da man!)

What a stupid, stupid game. [jealous of wolfman being “da man”]

I really thought that a mallet in free fall HAD to be “drop the hammer.” I don’t get that one.

What a stupid stupid game.

Same time tomorrow?
